Unfortunately, harassment of student radiographers and radiation therapists can occur on placement. Male patients are the modal perpetrators; most incidents go unreported, and students need support from the university in reporting harassment.
51% (n = 42) of the 82 students who initially reported not experiencing sexual harassment subsequently indicated experiencing at least one form of sexual harassment when given the actual definition.
Congratulations to the UCC team on the publication of this work in the "Medical Teacher" Journal today (Impact Factor 4.7, Q1).

Deaf patients face challenges in healthcare, particularly in radiography. We collaborated with a group of deaf patients to identify the issues and potential solutions.
We're excited to share our research, which you can find here:
https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S1687850723002649
Our findings suggest that radiographers can improve the experience by:
bringing carers into the room,
removing facemasks,
avoiding complex medical terminology,
using sign language interpreters and demonstrating positions visually
It's important to remember that not all deaf patients are the same. Let your colleagues know that the patient is deaf.
