Moving to Ireland or just started in an Irish workplace? ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ช
Here are 5 unwritten rules of Irish workplace culture that nobody tells you โ€” but everyone expects you to know.
The one that surprises most of my students? How much small talk actually matters. In Ireland, chatting before a meeting isn't wasting time โ€” it's how trust is built.
And the phrase to keep in your back pocket:
๐Ÿ‘‰ "Not a bother on me." = I'm happy to help / No problem at all.
Use it when someone thanks you. You'll instantly sound like you belong. ๐Ÿ˜„
Save this post and share it with someone starting out in Ireland. ๐Ÿ€

๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ช Moving to Ireland โ€” or already working here?

Then you need to know these 5 phrases before your next meeting.

Irish English sounds like Englishโ€ฆ but it isn't always. ๐Ÿ˜„

"Grand" is NOT a compliment. "I will yeah" means the complete opposite of what it sounds like. And "How are ya?" is NOT a question.

Swipe through and save this โ€” your colleagues will never know you looked it up. ๐Ÿ˜‰

If you found this helpful, share it with someone who's just moved to Ireland or is thinking about it. They'll thank you. ๐Ÿ™Œ

๐Ÿ’ฌ Which of these phrases confused you the most when you first heard it? Tell me in the comments! ๐Ÿ‘‡

Do you go quiet in meetings โ€” even when you have something to say?
Most non-native English speakers donโ€™t lack ideas. They lack the phrases to deliver them with confidence.
Here are 4 phrases that will change how your colleagues hear you โ€” professionally, calmly, and without any awkward hesitation.
Save this post and try one phrase in your next meeting. Let me know in the comments which one felt most natural for you.

This page is changing โ€” and it's long overdue.
I've spent years teaching English at university level here in Ireland. And I've decided it's time to bring that here, properly.
From now on this page is for ambitious non-native English speakers who want to communicate with confidence โ€” in the workplace, in interviews, in emails, in meetings.
Real professional English. From someone who teaches it every day.
If that's you, stay. I think you'll find something useful here.
First reel drops this week. ๐Ÿ‘‡

Most non-native English speakers were taught to say "I disagree" โ€” but native speakers almost never say that.
In this reel I share 4 phrases that let you push back professionally, confidently, and calmly in any meeting, email, or workplace conversation โ€” without the awkwardness, and without damaging a single relationship.
The phrases:
โœฆ "That's a fair point โ€” I'd look at it slightly differently..."
โœฆ "I see where you're coming from, though I wonder if..."
โœฆ "I'm not sure I fully agree โ€” can I share a different take?"
โœฆ "I think we might be looking at this differently โ€” here's my concern..."
Notice the pattern: acknowledge first, then redirect. That's how confident professionals disagree in English.
Save this โ€” you'll need it.
