Have you heard of colour theory?

Put simply, it is the knowledge of how colours interact with each other.

Traditionally, a red and a green will balance each other out by toning down the intensity of the other colour. This can also be seen in personality types!

A Red personality is quite determined and pragmatic, while a Green is caring and patient. Where a Red charges ahead on getting into action, a Green can help them slow down and breathe. Alternatively, when a Green is too docile, a Red can help them be assertive.

A gesture can be defined as an action performed to convey a feeling, intention, idea, or meaning.

They can express your unique personality, show trust or goodwill, as well as improving on or distracting from a presentation. However, in different cultures, the same gesture can mean something else entirely!

Navigating these different aspects of professional settings can be overwhelming, and we help with ALL four.

Understanding and utilising personalities, leading effectively with connections, presenting confidently, and unifying multicultural teams all lead to greater success in the workplace.

If you want to improve any of these areas, we have courses for each https://www.cornerstonelearning.ie/corporate-courses

You don't need to touch someone to show physical affection.

If someone does not enjoy physical touch, taking the time to note and respect this is also a form of love! This shows your attentiveness and care for the person's feelings.

On the other hand, if they DO enjoy physical touch, you can learn what actions they like most and when they feel comfortable receiving it.

Physical affection is often valued as it is inherently a sincere form of affection, being more difficult to fake, and can convey feelings when words fall short.

And remember: when in doubt, just ask!

Lights are shining, the air is nippy, fires are crackling, and the smiles are abundant.

The holidays can be incredibly joyful or difficult to endure, but regardless of which feels closer to home for you, connection IS important.

Spending quality time with someone can convey to them that they are valued and loved by you.

Giving space to voice concerns, ask advice, or simply enjoy each other's company all help to foster and deepen your relationships with one another.

Who can you spend intentional time with over the break? Who needs your listening ear, your presence, and your friendship?

Have you ever felt invisible or underappreciated?

Maybe you have been putting in extra hours, or making progress in developing your skillset, but there has been no recognition of your accomplishments and you feel demotivated.

Intentionally affirming a person's successes helps them to feel appreciated, and aids their professional growth. Additionally, it strengthens workplace relationships and makes for a more enjoyable working environment.

By showing that their efforts have been noticed, and taking the time to encourage them, they are propelled towards even greater heights.

Is there someone you know who could use some verbal affirmation today?

This month we'll be looking into the Five Love Languages, a concept that not only relates to personal relationships but workplace connections as well!

Gift giving is not just about buying some "nice enough" object and passing it to someone.

It should show that you have been paying attention to them and what they enjoy or need, and how they have been feeling. Good gifts are meaningful and intentional, not obligatory.

You could keep that hot drink your colleague loves in stock in the office, or top up their stationary that is running low!

If you don't know which is your primary Love Language, you can take the quiz and find out! https://5lovelanguages.com/quizzes/love-language

You might have been told before to "stop having an attitude," but we think you SHOULD have one!

Specifically, an attitude of gratitude.

It is easy to get caught up in thinking about everything we don't have, but this leads to our perspectives darkening as we dwell on the negatives. If we choose to hit pause and think of a person, place, or experience we are grateful for, we will feel lighter and view the world in a more positive way.

You can try it now! Comment one thing you are grateful for down below, and see if you feel more positive after!

Why is a sponge useful?

Do we rely on it for its solid and static behavior, certain that it won't change?

Of course not! Its greatest strength is the way it is FLEXIBLE and ADAPTS!

Similarly, a growth mindset embraces differences in environment and uses them as an opportunity for positive change. Where a fixed mindset would close us off from interacting with challenges and their potential messes, a growth mindset believes in the ability to develop our skills, even through failure!

To learn more about the difference a growth mindset can make in your life, check out Megan's post https://www.cornerstonelearning.ie/blog/growth-mindset-for-lifelong-learning

Have you ever hit someone with a triple-punch knockout?

"You are wrong," "I am right," and "I have evidence."

KNOCKOUT.

We can sometimes do this when we reach a conclusion based purely off our own perception, even though we may be missing context or have used faulty logic. This stops conversations in their tracks and blocks opportunities for us to learn.

Adam Grant says in his book "Think Again" that "We learn more from people who challenge our thought process than those who affirm our conclusions."

It is important to remember that we CAN be wrong and that it is worthwhile to consider other people's perspectives.

How can you encourage conversation and "Think Again" today?
