A group of our TY students got the opportunity to represent Mercy College at a mock council meeting today. The event was facilitated by the Dublin City Women’s Committee. We’re very grateful to councillors Jesslyn Henry and Alison Field, both of whom extended an invitation to our students. The girls were delighted to meet Jesslyn in person as she is a former Mercy College Coolock student. We look forward to welcoming her back to MCC to speak to our Students Council. Thanks also to Ms. Lawlor and Ms. McLoughlin who accompanied the girls.

Many thanks to the students and staff who supported Jersey Day. Well done to our TY Future Leaders group who organised the event and to Ms. McCormack and Mr. Sheahan who coordinate the programme.

And they’re off! Wishing our senior students and staff ‘Buon Viaggio’ as they head off to Milan to start their 4-day trip. They’ll take in the Duomo and San Siro today before heading to their accommodation on Lake Garda. Other highlights of the trip include Venice, Verona and Gardaland. Enjoy every minute!

Maths Week activities have been taking place for each year group. Earlier in the week our 6th years played a Mercy version of ‘Play your cards right’; 5th years took part in Countdown, while 3rd years competed in ‘Deal or no Deal’. This morning, our 1st years have been brushing up on their numeracy skills with some competitive but fun bingo. Well done to everyone who participated and congratulations to all of the prizewinners. Special mention for our overall winners to date: 6th Year - Layla Rooney; 5th Year - Sophie King; 3rd Year - Darcy Doyle and 1st Years - Anna Mooney & Millie Mitchell. There are more Maths based activities, games and challenges to come before the end of the week. Thank you to our Maths subject team - Ms. MacDonough, Ms. Quinn-McGregor, Ms. O’Toole, Ms. Lawlor and Mr. Sheahan for putting it all together and facilitating the various events.

Our 6th years attended Othello in the Clasać theatre today as part of their Leaving Certificate preparations. Thank you to the English teachers who organised the trip to see the performance.

We were delighted to welcome the Brow Expert and Beauty team back to Mercy College yesterday for another informative, practical and interactive workshop on careers and training opportunities in the Beauty Industry, this time for our Leaving Certificates. Thanks so much to the presenters and instructors, as well as the Mercy Careers Guidance team. Well done to our 6th years who engaged so well and really enjoyed the session.
