Something that deserves a post all of its own...

Our wonderful member Lisa, and her trusted partner Wicasa, have been out of action for almost a year now, due to both of them having their own injuries to work on. Lisa has attended every show, and remained steadfast in her support of the club and all its members when out and about at competitions. ❤️
This was their first weekend back together competing, and what a cracker of a weekend they had! 🤗
🥇 They came 1st in their Dressage and highest placed in their class at the Rincoola Derby
🥉 3rd in the 80cm Accumulator at the Nationals in Mullingar 🙌🥳

Its soooooooo good to see you back in the saddle Lisa, and back on board the best boy Wicasa 🫶 Onwards and upwards for you both together! 🙌 ❤️

If there was ever a weekend to make us burst with pride, this was it! 🤗🎉

A huge congratulations to all of our Benbulben Riding Club members who flew the flag so brilliantly across a packed weekend of competition – including the Assoc of Irish Riding Clubs National Show Jumping Championships in Mullingar Equestrian the Summer Amateur show in Cavan Equestrian Centre, and Rincoola, where the standard was nothing short of phenomenal. With the best combinations from clubs across the country battling it out, every ribbon had to be well and truly earned... and our members certainly earned theirs! 💪🐴

The fact that every single Benbulben rider competing at the Nationals came home with a ribbon is an incredible achievement and a real testament to the hard work, determination (and perhaps a little horse-powered magic!) put in by our riders, horses, instructors and supporters. 🤗

🥇Emma and Enzo 1st in the 1m Derby 🥳
🥈Therese and Misneach 2nd in the 90cm Derby, also 5th in the 90cm Championship 🥳
🥉Sophie and Junior 3rd in the 90cm Open 🥳
🏆Melissa and Bibi joined up for a Benbulben / Stracomer super team and came 6th in the 70/80cm team event 🥳

At the Cavan Amateur Show -

🥇Deirdre and Abbey 1st in the 90cm 🥳
🥈Breda and Bianca 2nd in the Power and Speed 🥳
🥈Vanessa and Lucy 2nd in the Amateur Grand Prix 🥳
⭐️ Katy had 2 smashing rounds with her young horses Paco and Ella 🙌
And..... Louise guided young Flora around her first ever 90s course, and the she did it with ease and is definitely a future star 🤗⭐️

🥇Cathy and MacDreamy 1st in the Ridden Cob class in Granard 🥳

⭐️ Sharon and Bella also had a cracking day at the Rincoola Derby, coming 1st in their Dressage and making great shape around the XC, and they were MEATY fences 🙈

Some weekends deserve to be remembered! 🥰

Our girl Shauna Wilson had a CRACKING weekend last weekend with her partners Hannah and Harley💕

🏆 Hannah – Connaught Amateur CHAMPION & Connaught League CHAMPION 🏆
🇮🇪 Harley – Qualified for the Dublin Horse Show in the Connemara Performance 🏅

Shauna has worked so hard and is out competing every weekend all over the country, and the proof is in the pudding!
Your determination and dedication is undeniable and admireable, and you deserve every bit of the success you have achieved 👏

🐴☀️ Hot weather reminder for horse owners and riders ☀️🐴

With temperatures rising, please be mindful when exercising your horses. Consider riding during the cooler parts of the day, reduce the intensity and duration of work, and always ensure plenty of fresh water is available.

Watch for signs of heat stress such as excessive sweating, rapid breathing, lethargy, or reluctance to move. Remember that hot, humid conditions can affect horses much more quickly than we realise.

A little extra care can go a long way in keeping our horses happy, healthy, and safe during the warmer weather. Stay cool and ride responsibly. ❤️🐎

Twas a busy weekend in the Benbulben Camp with many of our club members out and about competing, and loads of ribbons coming back to Sligo! 🥳

The Connaught Grand Prix show was held in Glenamaddy on Saturday, where 3 of our girls put in strong rounds in the highly competitive Amateur league class.
Breda Perrin came a fantastic 4th, this duo are top of their game 🙌
Shauna Wilson was kept busy with her 2 mares, and took 7th and 11th place. 👏 Shauna also had the RDS Connemara Performance Qualifier in Scarteen that morning, and unfortunately just had the last fence down. 😣
Vanessa Sweeney finished 9th with her lovely Lucy. 🌟

On Sunday, 4 of us headed to Crossmolina to take part in the David Corcoran Memorial Show in the wonderfully scenic River View Equestrian centre. ❤️
The classes were large, and the 80s and 90s were both against the clock ⏰️
Louise Walsh had her young mare Flora out on her first trip away from home, and after the first fence or 2 she really settled in to it and flew around the course like she was a seasoned professional 🙌 👏
Maggie Villarini was just out of the placings coming 7th out of 37 in the 80s and 15th out of 43 in the 90s, another 2 clear rounds and another boost to the confidence! 🤗
Sharon McGowan had a very strong round in the 90s, just brushing the top pole of the final fence for a very unlucky 4 faults. 👏
And Geraldine Cullen and her sweet mare Mary-Ellen proved once again they are a magnificent partnership, bringing home 6th place in the 90s. 🥳🌟
A wonderful weekend all round and we had mighty weather to boot ☺️ 🌞
Thanks to all who went out to support also, and to our top grooms this weekend Elaine Wilson, Mel McKeown, Peter O'Hara and Kirstie Kenehan, keeping us in tip top show shape, and relatively sane 🤣 🙏

The beginning of June brings one of the most anticipated weekends and highlights of the Riding Club year - the Festival in Mullingar!🐴🏕🏇
Benbulben Riding Club were out in force and many of our members came home with their hands full of ribbons and prizes 🥳😁

Sharon McGowan was our first winner coming 2nd in her Prix Caprilli PCN class 🥈 Dressage, Showing, Jumping, there is nothing this duo cannot do and do really well! 🙌

Evelyn Egan was in the Irish Draughts class, always a big class and hotly contested, and she came away with a super 6th place on her immaculately as always turned out Mare 🥳🏆

Becky Tiernan came 2nd in the Connemara Class on her 5 year year old pony, and also finished up as Reserve Champion 👏🏆🥈

Melissa McDowell joined up with Stracomer Riding Club and brought home 5th place in the 80s Show Jumping team event, with only 3 members jumping this was an incredible feat!🙌👏 Melissa is also through to the 70/80s Team final in July. 🥳

Maggie Villarini & Therese Anderson joined forces with Dawn McAllister & Lauren McLaughlin of Inishowen Riding Club to form a true super-group, and after a mighty 1st round of clears, Therese went in to the jump off and charged round at lightening speed, to bring home FIRST PLACE in the 90s team show jumping event. 🥇🌟🥳 HON THE GREYS!!!!! 😄

And last, but certainly not least....😊
Our youngest member - Peter O'Hara - came a truly commendable 4th place in the Intro to Showing class. This was Peter's Riding Club event debut, and Peter I hope you are as proud of yourself as we all are of you! ☺️ The future of Showing is bright with you and Sonny on board ✨️

As well as the competitive side of things, the whole weekend was filled with friendship, support, encouragement, and just a huge sense of joy and community. 🤗 Our cups are well and truly filled. ❤️
Thanks to AIRC for organising one of the best weekends of the year, all the volunteers, the staff, the paramedics, and of course Mullingar Equestrian for hosting us and giving us the opportunity to experience riding in world class facilities.

What a fantastic day of training for Benbulben Riding Club! 🐴✨

Today we held training sessions in Show Jumping, Showing/Working Hunter, and Dressage, giving members a wonderful opportunity to develop their skills across a range of disciplines.

A huge thank you to everyone who took part and helped make it such an enjoyable and successful day. It was not only great fun but also incredibly educational, with plenty of valuable tips and tricks learned and confidence gained by both horses and riders.

The day provided excellent preparation for the showing season ahead, and especially for those travelling to the Festival next weekend.

A very special thank you goes to our three incredible trainers; Cormac Rafferty, Philip Scott, and Helen Nolan, for sharing their expertise, encouragement, and patience throughout the day. Your knowledge and support are greatly appreciated and played a huge part in making the training such a success.

Thank you again to all involved, and of course to our committee for all the organising – we look forward to seeing everyone out and about during the season ahead! 🌟🐎

MASSIVE CONGRATS are in order to our very own who helped secure victory in the 70/80's Show Jumping team qualifer with Stracomer Riding Club! 🥳🥇
This pair are a force to be reckoned with and we wish you all the best of luck in the finals which take place at the Show Jumping National Championship in Mullingar on 20th July 🤗
