The Presentation Brothers Schools Trust (PBST) ensures that the Presentation ethos is fostered in all schools managed by the Presentation Brothers. Coláiste Muire is one these eight schools. The trust gives these schools they opportunity for participates to engage in a Core Values Course, and these values include caring, kindness, hope, community and compassion, and how they are supported in and out of the classroom.
At the annual PBST evening, seven teachers presented their course projects to a packed Mardyke House. The evening began with a short, guided meditation by Ms Culhane of Coláiste Muire which allowed everyone to settle into the event. All seven projects varied from the value and impact of guided meditation in the classroom, to the Edmund Rice Award, to the use of the Ancient World of Niezsche and Caesar to highlight how Christian our Moral intuitions remain.
After the presentations, lecturer and scholar Fr. Éamon Roche explored a fascinating and comprehensive talk on “When Faith and Science collide, umpiring The Truth according to St John Henry Newman”. It was an animated and cordial evening that embodied the words of Edmund Rice himself: “ Have courage. The good seed will grow up in the children’s hearts later on.”
