Today our Wexford County Council Nature Walk was at Carne beach. We had some great conversations at our display table. The sky darkened and it looked like it might rain but it held off. I found some interesting things on our Nature Walk which I will post later. A young seagull with rings, some water scorpions (they were new to me at the seaside, they possibly came down in the fresh water run off). And a mobile phone!! 🌊

Monday evening 9:30pm in the dark on the beach in Kilmore Quay with some UV torches. What a great evening exploring the rockpools and seeing wonderful sealife in such wonderful colours under the UV light. 🔦 🦀🌊🌔

Today our walk was at beautiful Duncannon beach where every find was truly a treasure. 🌊 🐚

OCEAN ODDITIES! - Meet the Connemara Clingfish (though you don't need to be in Connemara to see one). With their duck-billed snout, cartwheel spoke patterned eyes, and ruddy cheeks, these distinctive and reclusive fish can be found hiding in deep crevices on the lower shore. End of Summer and a new adventure starts!
We hope everyone had a great summer and are looking forward to getting back to school. The Aquarium education team are really excited to welcome students back into the Aquarium and look forward to teaching you all about the ocean.

A recap of Heritage Week 2026.
15th Starting with Kilmore Quay Conservation Group at the Burrow Kilmore Quay. And that afternoon a display by Irish Coast Guard - Kilmore Quay, with a fly by by our Rescue 117 helicopter 🚁
16th a Nature Walk in Curracloe organised by Wexford County Council.
17th to 21st our Tomhaggard Clean Coasts One Sea, One Sky week long project in the Stella Maris Centre with artists Jeni Roddy, Caoimhe Dunn Create and Lynn from The Upcycle Movement and some seashore adventures with Seashore Explore.
22nd another Nature Walk at Rosslare Strand.
23rd Clone Strand, Castletown with the Ahare River and Biodiversity Group for the Water Heritage Family Fun Day.
All week we have noted all our coastal biodiversity and sent data to Explore Your Shore Biodiversity Ireland for the Seashore Splash event for Heritage Week. 🌊 🦀 🐚
It has been a busy and fabulous week, I hope you had fun too at all the organised events.
