Blackstairs Community Playschool & Afterschool are recruiting a dedicated and motivated Aim Support Practitioner for 30 hours (6 hours per day) per week. This position will begin in September 2026. The successful applicant will have a friendly nature and a genuine interest in working with children.

The suitable candidate will be required to:
• Facilitate Inclusion - Assist children with additional needs to actively engage in daily pre-school routines, educational tasks, and social play alongside their peers.
• Implement Inclusion Plans - Work directly with the Room Leader and the setting's Inclusion Coordinator to deliver goals recommended by Better Start Early Years Specialists.
• Observation and Documentation - Monitor progress and maintain accurate records of child engagement to assist with compliance inspections and program reviews.
• Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate activities aligned with the Aistear curriculum.
• Foster a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment.
• Build strong relationships with children, parents, and colleagues.
• Be involved in the day-to-day operations of the room
• Observe, document, and support children’s development
• Maintain health, safety, and hygiene standards

What We’re Looking For
• Minimum Level 5 qualification in Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE).
• Strong knowledge of the Aistear and Síolta frameworks.
• A genuine passion for working with children.
• Excellent communication & teamwork skills.
• Excellent knowledge of child development theories
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Organised, reliable, and proactive
• Empathetic and passionate about early childhood care
• Behaviour Management - Practical experience in implementing positive, play-based strategies to support children’s emotional regulation and engagement would be beneficial but not essential.

Blackstairs Community Playschool would like to extend our sincere sympathies to the family of the late Mick Weafer.
Mick dedicated many years to the Playschool as Chairman and was an integral part of building the service that we have today.
A team player to the last, and always available to lend a hand, Mick will be remembered fondly and greatly missed. Rest in peace Mick.

Blackstairs Community Playschool/ Blackstairs Morning and Afterschool Club is currently looking to create a relief panel for both the preschool and out of school club. This relief panel would provide cover for staff during holidays and for short term absences.

The successful candidates must be reliable and have a genuine interest in children.

Successful candidates for the preschool relief panel must hold a minimum Level 5 early education and care qualification.
Currently, school aged childcare practitioners do not yet need to hold a relevant qualification so a qualification is not required for the out of school club, however a relevant qualification would be preferred.

Experience in the early years sector is preferred, however this is not essential.

👻🎃🧙‍♀️ Our Spooky Tractor Run is just two weeks away now...Sunday 27th.... Trucks, cars, etc all welcome to join us!
Dress up & decorate your vehicles, let's see who will scare us the most! 👻
Leaving Rackard's Carpark at 1pm.
€20 entry per vehicle. Refreshments in Rackard's afterwards.

🎃🧙‍♀️👻 Followed by Kids Halloween Party in Killanne Hall at 3pm. Wear your Halloween costume and come along for lots of spooky fun & treats! We will have donation buckets available if you would like to support Killanne Developments ongoing work in the area! Thank You! 👻🎃🧙‍♀️

Full Day Care Opening
Blackstairs Community Playschool has recently opened a full day care service. We cater from children aged 2 years 6 months. Our opening hours are from 8am - 6pm.
At Blackstairs Community Playschool, we are committed to providing quality childcare to all children & families.
Children are cared for in a caring & nurturing environment where children can relax, play & learn.
We aim to provide an environment which is rich in positive experiences, opportunities, and interactions.
The ECCE scheme is available to all eligable children. The National Childcare Scheme subsidy is also available.
