Ardkeeran NS Riverstown

Ardkeeran NS Riverstown We are a seven teacher school situated in the heart of Riverstown. Co. Sligo. We have four mainstream teachers, two support teachers, a supply teacher and a SNA.

We currently have 110 pupils enrolled in our school and we pride ourselves on our high standards of positive behavior and academic achievements. We provide a wide variety of experiences for our pupils and have fine, modern facilities in a rural community school environment. Recently a large extension was completed to the rear of our school. We now have four large state of the art classrooms and a

newly resurfaced playground. This play area incorporates a football pitch, basketball and tennis courts and a green area. Currently we are very busy developing our new School Garden which includes a sensory garden, vegetable patch, herbs and flowers.

Last Thursday, Gerry, Chairperson of Ballisodare Fishing Club was assisted by two environmental studies students from the ATU, spoke to the senior children from Taunagh N.S. and Ardkeeran N.S. about the biodiversity of the River Unshin. They were given booklets to identify insects and micro-organisms caught in samples from the river. They used magnifying glasses to observe these creatures more closely.
