Irish famine shoelace appeal students at Youthreach progression Navan, Co. Meath, Ireland, are organising a human rights project to commemorate the Irish Famine. Thank you for your time

We are trying to put names and faces on the people who died and those who left on Famine ships. We have decided to try and collect shoe laces to represent those who died (black shoe laces) and those who left (any colour). We hope to make an installation art piece with the laces when we have collected them all. We are very interested in hearing the stories of the descendants of the Famine and try t

o put a picture on what kind of world impact it had and has today. We would be very grateful if you could send us names, photo’s, stories or shoe laces to represent your family members or friends. We hope to collect enough shoe laces to represent your family individual who left Ireland as a result of the famine and to remember those who died.
