Competition time!
Bats! (Ialtóg as gaeilge)
They are just brilliant.
We have 4 types of bat in the Sallins area. You can listen to these nocturnal pollinators using bat listening monitors after sunset. A great family activity.
are a volunteer expert group. They rehab injured bats and their displaced young. They organise roost boxes and do fantastic informative community awareness talks (among many other tasks).
We are currently arranging a visit from the Kildare Bat Group team to Sallins for this coming season. This follows a wonderful public Heritage Week event last Summer locally.
To celebrate we are running a competition. For your chance to win a bat house for your garden or estate and a bat guide book.
To win, send us a photo of a bat drawing or bat themed bat craft you have made.
Also 3 of your favourite facts about irish bats to our email:

Members of the Midlands Regional Advisory Council recently received a special surprise visit from some of the Clane hurling team!
Kim, Paul, Niamh, Claire, and Eva were delighted when players Ethan Smith and Cormac Vizzard dropped in on their way to a match to chat and present a jersey signed by the whole team.
Their visit comes after the hurlers recently spent time volunteering at An Garraí Beag, the Kildare branch’s horticulture premises.
What a great surprise!
