What are they? 👇👇

𝐐𝐮𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐞𝐫𝐬 are words that usually go before a noun or noun phrase to express the quantity of an object.

For example:
a) 𝗔 𝗹𝗼𝘁 𝗼𝗳 people come here.
b) I like this film for 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘆 reasons.
c) It took 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲 time but I eventually found the best restaurant in town.

We've attached a 𝐐𝐮𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐞𝐫𝐬 exercise so you can practice from home

What are they? 👇👇

𝑫𝒆𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒓𝒔 are used before a noun or noun phrase to
a) specify what you are referring to
b) identify what you are referring to
c) quantify the noun or noun phrase

An example sentence for each purpose:

a) I can't find 𝐦𝐲 history book.
b) I want to eat at 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 restaurant.
c) My brother goes swimming 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 day.

Making mistakes is all part of the learning process. As teachers, we embrace mistakes because they're the perfect opportunity for students to learn.

Here are 3 common mistakes we've noticed some of our students making:
1. I have 16 years. X
I am 16 years old. ✓

2. I am agree with you. X
I agree with you. ✓

3. My apartment is in the third floor. X
My apartment is on the third floor. ✓

Why do 'debt' and 'doubt' have a silent 'b' in them?

Debt comes from the Latin 'debitum'. Up until the Middle Ages, the word was 'dette', as it is in French, too.

But lexical scholars (with possibly too much time on their hands) decided to give credit to the original authors. Thus the 'b' was added as a tip of a hat to the Latin language. 🎩
