DARE (Disability Access Route to Education) is a Higher Education alternative admissions scheme whereby students can access some college courses on a reduced points basis. Students must be eligible to make an application and a list of conditions/disabilities is available on www.accesscollege.ie
The most common eligibility criteria met is students being diagnosed with a specific numeracy or literacy difficulty, a significant ongoing illness or having a disability.
HEAR (Higher Education Access Route) is another alternative admissions scheme which enables students to access certain college courses on a reduced points basis due to their socio-economic background or if their social background is underrepresented in Higher Education. Eligibility Criteria for the HEAR scheme is also available on www.accesscollege.ie
Next Saturday, 14th January, Access College Ireland will hold online information sessions in relation to the application procedures for the HEAR and DARE schemes.
