OPEN DAYS

Open Day season is upon us again and starting from next weekend students will have the opportunity to attend various open days over the coming weeks and months.
College Open Days are a great way for students to carry out career research and can be a great help as important CAO decisions as made later in the year.

Preparation is essential prior to attending an open day and students should consider the information they wish to gather at the event.
Here are some questions students should seek answers to:

✴️What are the entry requirements for the course
✴️How many hours of lectures/tutorials/labs will there be each week
✴️How is the course assessed
✴️How many students will be on the course
✴️Is there an opportunity for work placement or study abroad
✴️What are the post graduate studies/employment opportunities
✴️What facilities are available on campus
✴️What are the student accommodation options
✴️What clubs and societies are available for students

Below is a list of the main open days taking place during October and November. This list isn't exhaustive and students should remember that colleges often hold faculty or course specific information evenings and portfolio preparation days.

✳️ ADJUSTMENTS TO ASSESSMENT ARRANGEMENTS - LEAVING CERTIFICATE 2023 ✳️

The Minister for Education, Norma Foley, has announced that adjustments will be made to the assessment arrangements for students due to sit their state examinations in 2023.

*️⃣ The level of adjustment will be the same as that announced in August 2021 but updated as relevant. The familiar overall structure of the exams will stay intact while incorporating additional choice for students

*️⃣ In some cases, the adjustment measures will provide more time for tuition by, for example, reducing preparatory work for practical exams

*️⃣ A document detailing the adjusted assessment arrangements for every subject will be issued to schools this week

‼️ It is important that students familiarise themselves with the relevant adjustments in their particular subjects ‼️
