Revolutionise The Irish Fishing Industry!!!!!!
Below announcement from Minister Simon Coveney on his budget allocation to the marine industry yesterday.

BUDGET 2015 - Marine: € 76 Million
Included in the funding of the Marine sector is the sum of €11.5 million devoted to the new seafood development programme 2015, while a further €11.5 million of capital funding will be invested in fishery harbour capital works, which not only adds value and improvement to these harbours but also contributes heavily to the local economies of the areas concerned. Some €6.3 million is allocated to investments in aquaculture and fish processing projects, while close to €47million is allocated to fund the marketing and development functions of BIM, the research role of the Marine Institute and the regulatory and control functions of the Seafood Protection Authority.

BEST PLACE TO GO WILD IN IRELAND CONTEST!!!
The Irish Times has chosen five finalists in the Best Place to Go Wild in Ireland contest. They are: Clare Island, Co Mayo; the Erris region, Co Mayo; the Beara peninsula, Cos Cork and Kerry; the Donegal coast from Killybegs to Ardara; and the Fermanagh lakelands.
Our coastal counties have performed very well in the competition. Another platform to showcase this great natural resource of ours and another reason to support Irish fishing communities. Our photo earlier today was taken from one of the finalist locations!!! Can you name it?
And not to forget our fishermen!! - photo of lobster pot from a previous fishing era!! - No need to worry about the quality of the steel!!!!

We did the "Fish Facts" previously, here are some startling statistics from the Irish Seafood Industry. Please continue to like our posts, and share our page. By the way, did you have fish on Good Friday?
◾Exports of Irish seafood during 2012 amounted to €493 million, an increase of 18% on 2011. The domestic market was worth €329 million.
◾60% of Irish seafood is exported to 54 countries around the world with approximately 65% to EU, 14% to Africa and 4% to Asia, 3% to the Middle East, 2% to Russia and 1% to USA.
◾Ireland harvests over 40 different types of high quality seafood including salmon, whitefish, pelagic and shellfish species.
◾The Irish seafood industry generates an estimated 12,000 jobs, supporting the economic viability of many rural and coastal communities.
◾The number of fishing vessels in EU Member States amounted to 83,014 in 2011. In 2011 Ireland had 2,176 fishing vessels; 2.6% of the EU fishing fleet.

ITS GOOD FRIDAY!!! Like our page - like our post!!!
Please ensure you are eating Irish fish today. There are many varieties available - hake, cod, whiting, mackerel to name but a few. A lot of fresh fish in our shops today comes filleted, skinned and accompanied with a dressing, pre-packed and just ready to cook . Cooking and eating fish has become so easy. In line with the simplicity, it provides you with very high nutritional values. Health experts say we should be eating at least 2 portions of fish per week. So this Good Friday, don't be afraid of fish - "Embrace A Fin!!" This fishing boat is part of the Responsible Irish Fish programme, catching Irish fish in a responsible manner. Lets all make an effort this week to promote eating fish and especially Irish fish. We need to raise the awareness of this fabulous food and the availability of locally sourced fish and shellfish. Watch out for Mr Goods Fabulous Fish range just launched in Tesco. Particularly, the 'Heavenly Zesty Lemon Hake Fillets' landed from Responsible Irish Fish trawlers.
