What a night at Clondalkin Talkin’ Toastmasters!
We were delighted to officially welcome two new members with their inductions and to have three guests join us to see what Toastmasters is all about.
Our guests were treated to four wonderful prepared speeches, delivered by members ranging from those newer to the speaking journey to our more seasoned speakers — a great example of the variety, support and learning that happens at every meeting.
But the highlight of the night had to be Table Topics!
You never quite know what’s going to happen during Table Topics… and last night, somehow, a tape measure made its way into the mix! What followed had the whole room in stitches! It was definitely one of those Toastmasters moments that had everyone laughing long after the topic was over.
Our guests thoroughly enjoyed the evening, and we’re looking forward to welcoming them back again.

1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month - Arrive at 7:45pm for an 8pm start. Meeting finishes at 10pm. Maldron Hotel, Newlands Cross

Visitors are always welcome — no experience needed!

From Personal Journeys to Irish History… and into the Future!
We were treated to four wonderful speeches at our latest meeting, with each speaker bringing something completely different to the floor.
Aigul kicked off the night with her Icebreaker speech, speaking naturally and with real emotion as she beautifully intertwined historical events with her own personal journey. A memorable first speech and a wonderful start to her Toastmasters journey.
Monica followed with her second speech, filled with personal anecdotes and humour. Her storytelling kept us entertained throughout and showed how our own experiences can make for some of the best speeches.
Then it was over to two of our seasoned speakers…
John brought us back in time with a fascinating piece of Irish history — and one with which he has a very special personal connection. He shared the story of a historic plaque commemorating members of the 4th Battalion, Dublin Brigade, who fought under Éamonn Ceannt during the 1916 Rising. Missing for many years, the plaque was rediscovered at the Citywest Hotel, with John himself involved in its transfer to the 4th Battalion Dublin Brigade Relatives Group.
And from preserving the past to contemplating the future, Peter took us into the world of Artificial Intelligence. He explained how generative AI predicts what is likely to come next and encouraged us to approach its outputs with optimistic caution — embracing the possibilities while remembering not to automatically accept everything it produces as fact.
Well done to all four speakers and to everyone who contributed to another enjoyable evening at Clondalkin Talkin’ Toastmasters.

What a fantastic first meeting of the new Toastmasters term!
Our new President, John, got us off to a brilliant start, leading his first meeting with confidence, warmth and plenty of enthusiasm. If tonight was anything to go by, we’re in for a great term ahead!
We were treated to three wonderful speeches.
One of our newest members, Sanju, took to the floor for only the second time and did a fantastic job. It’s great to see our newer members getting involved and growing in confidence with every speech.
Our long-standing member Mary completed Level 1 of the Motivational Strategies Path with her heartfelt speech, “To Be Continued…” – and she certainly lived up to the title, leaving us all wanting to hear the continuation!
Finally, another long-standing member, Pat, not only entertained us but educated us on the Power of Association, sharing some great memory tips that we can all put into practice.
We were also delighted to welcome two guests from Lucan Toastmasters. It’s always lovely to see fellow Toastmasters visiting and supporting other clubs – you’re always very welcome!
A brilliant evening of stories, learning, laughter and encouragement – exactly what Toastmasters is all about.

A proud moment for Clondalkin Talkin’ Toastmasters!

We were delighted to receive recognition as a Smedley Distinguished Club for 2025–2026

Achieving Distinguished status is a significant milestone for a Toastmasters club, recognising success in areas such as member achievement, club growth and strong club leadership. Most importantly, it reflects the commitment of our members to developing their communication and leadership skills throughout the year.

We were also very proud to be recognised as the Home Club of the Area Director.

A fantastic achievement for Clondalkin Talkin’ and a real team effort from everyone involved.

Clondalkin Talkin achieved the highest honour in District 71 and in our history. We received the Smedley Distinguished Award, the district's highest honour. We thank all members of the club, and especially the committee, for helping to make this happen. Buala bos. 🙌👏🤝👊😀
