There were plenty of celebrations at Clonaslee College and St Fergal’s College in Rathdowney on Friday as the Leaving Certificate Class of 2026 received their results.

There was great excitement in Clonaslee College as the Class of 2026 received their Leaving Certificate results. Renowned for its strong academic record, Clonaslee College once again celebrated excellent results amongst their small cohort of 27 Leaving Certificate Established and 8 Leaving Certificate Applied candidates.
Amongst our Leaving Certificate established candidates, 40% of candidates received in excess of 400 points and 20% received over 500 points. The Leaving Certificate Applied (LCA) group also impressed, with 40% of the class earning Distinctions, a great achievement that reflects their hard work and the support they received throughout the year.
The school was proud to welcome so many students and their families back this morning to mark their achievements. Principal Sean Cotter said he was delighted with the results in his first year as principal and especially proud of the students, having seen first-hand the hard work and commitment they put in throughout the year.
“Clonaslee College is delighted to congratulate the Leaving Certificate Class of 2026 on their excellent results. The staff would like to acknowledge not only their academic achievements but also the young people they have become during their time at Clonaslee College. We are extremely proud of each and every one of our Leaving Certificate students. While today is a day to celebrate their results and the hard work that went into achieving them, our pride in this group goes far beyond grades or points. Over the years, we have had the privilege of watching these students grow and mature into wonderful young adults. They have contributed enormously to the life of our school and have represented Clonaslee College with great pride.
They have taken full advantage of the individual attention they received in the small class sizes we offer here in Clonaslee. Therefore, I would like to acknowledge our dedicated teaching and support staff, who have worked tirelessly with this group throughout their time in school. Their commitment, encouragement and genuine care for our students is something we value greatly at Clonaslee College. Today marks the end of one chapter and the beginning of another. Coming from my previous role as a Guidance Counsellor, I’m delighted to see our students progressing to third-level education, apprenticeships, further education, training and employment and wish them every success and happiness in whatever path they choose. I have no doubt that these students will join the long line of successful Clonaslee College alumni. On behalf of the entire staff and school community, I would like to congratulate the Class of 2026. We hope they look back fondly on their years at Clonaslee College and know that they will always remain an important part of our school community.”

Welcome back to all our students! Please take careful note of the dates and times in the image above for when each group will be returning to school.
Our new First Year students will begin their secondary school journey with us next Thursday, August 27th. We are delighted that Cairde, our student mentoring group, will be on hand to welcome and support our new students on their first day and throughout the year. Please note the later start time of 9:30am, with students finishing at 1:00pm.
On Friday, August 28th, all Junior Cycle students (1st–3rd Year) will return from 9:00am–1:15pm.
On Monday, August 31st, we will welcome all students back for a full school day, from 9:00am–3:55pm.
We look forward to welcoming all our new and returning students and hope you all had a safe and enjoyable summer!

A Message from Principal Sean Cotter: On behalf of the management and staff of Clonaslee College, I would like to extend our very best wishes to our Class of 2026 as they await their Leaving Certificate results. Leaving Certificate results will be available this Friday, 21 August 2026. Students will first be able to access their results through the Candidate Self Service Portal (CSSP) from 10:00am.

Our LC Class of 2026, alongside their parents/guardians and family members, are very welcome to come into the school from 11:30am on Friday if they wish to meet with teachers, add up their points, and receive their official school certificate with results. We are very much looking forward to welcoming our students back to Clonaslee College and celebrating their results together.

Please remember that the Candidate Self Service Portal (CSSP) will be used for accessing results, viewing component marks, applying to view exam scripts, viewing scripts online, submitting an appeal, and accessing appeal results. Therefore, I recommend that all students have their username and password for the CSSP ready in advance of results day. Please also take a moment to look at the important dates outlined in the information above. There are short windows for applying to view exam scripts and for submitting an appeal, so it is important that students are aware of the relevant dates and deadlines should they wish to avail of these options.

We wish all of our students the very best of luck with their results and in their future endeavours. We are very proud of you all and look forward to celebrating with you and your families on Friday.

Leaving Certificate Exams Conclude for the Class of 2026!
As our final Leaving Certificate exam concluded today in Clonaslee College, we would like to take the opportunity to say a huge congratulations to our Class of 2026.

Over the last three weeks, our students have shown tremendous dedication and resilience as they prepared for and sat their Leaving Certificate examinations. We are incredibly proud of all their hard work and efforts throughout this important time.

We wish them a safe, enjoyable and well-deserved summer break. We look forward to hearing all the good news when results are issued on August 21st.

As our Leaving Certificate and Junior Cycle students wrap up their French exams, we want to take a moment to sincerely thank our French Language Assistant, Paul, who has been with us throughout the school year.

We were incredibly fortunate to have a native French speaker in our classrooms every day. Paul made a huge contribution across all year groups, from helping our 6th Year students prepare for their oral examinations, to building confidence among our 5th Years, supporting 2nd Years with their CBAs, and bringing French and Breton culture to life through presentations, music and food. He worked alongside Mr Dooley daily and really enriched our students experience of learning a language!

Mr Dooley and all the staff and students are extremely grateful for everything he has done this year.We are also very thankful for the Foreign Language Assistant Scheme, which made it possible for us to have Paul as part of our school community.

Sports Day 2026: The Final Field Events!
Next up on our Sports Day Recap is a roundup of our final field events. First up was The Colour Match, which you might recognise from TikTok! Ms Pierce was the genius behind this game, which combined teamwork, sprinting and a memory challenge.

We also saw the return of Hot Lava, where students had to work together as a team, using crates to make their way safely across the lava. Gutter Ball, the ultimate team challenge, was back once again and proved as popular as ever. Also returning was Walk the Plank, which reminds us every year that getting an entire team working together is much harder than it looks!

Brand new activity Dress the Team also provided plenty of laughs and proved to be great fun for everyone involved on the day. Teams had to pass an outfit down the line and get every member dressed, all without letting any of the clothes touch the ground!

With so much going on throughout the day, students and staff still managed to find time for a well-earned ice cream treat thanks to our on-site ice cream truck! That’s all that’s left to share from our student activities! The highlight of the day, however, was none other than our annual Staff vs Students Superstars. There are always rumours that the teachers start training back in January to prepare for this moment. Sports Day 2026: Hurling Challenge and Penalty Shootout!
With 14 different field events taking place throughout the day, there was truly something for everyone at Sports Day!

Next up in our Sports Day round-up is the Hurling Challenge, led by Mr Callaghan, where students had the chance to put their hurling skills to the test. The Penalty Shootout, manned by Ms King, came with a twist. Rather than simply scoring a goal, students had to aim for one of the target holes on the inflatable goal.

Sports Day 2026: The Tug of War and Chair Challenge!
Our Sports Day Recap continues with The Tug of War and the Chair Challenge!





The Tug of War is a popular teamwork event, with each working together to try pull it over the line! Ms Fallon was impressed by all the team’s quick thinking and communication! The Chair Challenge certainly lived up to its name. As four chairs were pulled away, students had to work together to keep themselves supported off the ground. With Mr Heffernan on the clock, the challenge was on to see which group could survive the longest!
