Tears at the preschool door can be hard on everyone. They do not necessarily mean your child stays upset after you leave.
A few things can help:
๐ฑ Keep the goodbye warm, short and predictable.
๐ฑ Tell your child when you will return in words they understand โ for example, โafter lunchโ.
๐ฑ Let the educator know what usually comforts them.
๐ฑ Avoid slipping away without saying goodbye.
๐ฑ Expect extra tiredness or clinginess at home while everything is new.
Some children settle quickly; others need more time, patience and reassurance. There is no prize for settling first.
If you are worried, speak with the educator and share what you are seeing at home.
