🏆🌊 GARDA YOUTH AWARD WINNERS! 🌊🏆

We are absolutely thrilled to share some wonderful news for Meán Scoil Nua an Leith Triúigh!
Our GoWild and Shoreline Shapers TY groups have been named winners of a Group Award at the 2026 An Garda Síochána Kerry Division Youth Awards, sponsored by Lee Strand. 🎉
The students, nominated by Ms Blennerhassett, and recognised as part of this fantastic achievement are 5th Year students:

🌿 GoWild:

Jarlath Malachy Wruck, Grace Boland, Aoife Flynn, Darragh Goodwin, Saoirse Brosnan and Beatrice Dowling.
🌊 Shoreline Shapers:

Grace Stanney, Jess Jackson, Loe Wessels, Nina May Wagner MacManus, Christina Ní Chorchora, Alanna Griffin, Emily Boland and Conor Rohan.

These students have shown just what can happen when young people care deeply about their community and decide to make a difference.
Through GoWild and Shoreline Shapers, they organised beach cleans along the West Kerry coastline, worked alongside local and national environmental organisations, raised awareness of marine pollution and biodiversity, and transformed marine waste collected from our coastline into incredible sculptures representing the UN Sustainable Development Goals. 🌍

But their work grew far beyond the beaches where it began.
They delivered workshops to local primary schools, created educational resources on sustainability and the endangered Ringed Plover, and showcased their work at events including Féile na Bealtaine, Fossa Sustainability Fair and the European PHAROS/Grand Canaria Mega Event at MTU.

Their work also featured on Radio Kerry and in local newspapers, bringing positive attention to young people leading environmental action here in West Kerry.
Perhaps most remarkably, their environmental message travelled all the way from the beaches of West Kerry to Áras an Uachtaráin and Leinster House, where they had the opportunity to share their work and environmental projects with national leaders.
What makes this award particularly special is the spirit in which all of this work was undertaken. The students gave so generously of their own time — at lunchtimes, after school and at weekends — not for recognition or reward, but because they genuinely cared about protecting their environment and making a positive difference in their community.
The projects were led and supported by Principal Karen Blennerhassett and Ms Ilona Dowd, with the two groups jointly nominated for the Garda Youth Award.
We are immensely proud of every one of these young people. 💙

Their creativity, leadership, volunteerism and commitment to their community are exactly what these awards are about, and this recognition is so richly deserved.
And the celebrations are not over yet! 🏆

The students will be formally presented with their award at the Lee Strand/Kerry Garda Youth Achievement Awards ceremony in The Rose Hotel, Tralee, on Friday, September 18th.
We are really looking forward to joining the students on the night and having the opportunity to celebrate this wonderful achievement together.
The Overall Winner of the 2026 Lee Strand/Kerry Garda Youth Achievement Awards will also be announced at the ceremony, so it promises to be a very special and exciting evening.
From cleaning our local beaches to bringing their message to Áras an Uachtaráin and Leinster House, these students have shown that young people from a small school in West Kerry can make a very big difference. 🌊💙

A huge congratulations to every member of GoWild and Shoreline Shapers.

We could not be prouder of you! 👏👏👏

🎓 Leaving Certificate Results 2026 🎓

We are incredibly proud of all of our Leaving Certificate students and what they have achieved this year.

We were particularly delighted to see one of our students achieve the maximum 625 points, while almost 30% of the class achieved over 500 points – fantastic results for our school and a wonderful reflection of the hard work of our students and the dedication of our teaching staff.

One of the great strengths of a smaller school is the individual attention, encouragement and support we can give to every student. Our teachers know their students extremely well and go above and beyond to help each of them recognise their strengths and reach their potential.

Most importantly, we were delighted to see students across the full range of abilities achieve results that reflected their hard work and leave us feeling proud of what they had accomplished.

It was also an extra-special day for three members of our own staff, Ms Wall, Mr Roberts and Fiona Finn, whose children Reuben, Anna and Lucy received their Leaving Certificate results. Huge congratulations to them and their families – a very proud day all round! ❤️

Congratulations to the Class of 2026! We are very proud of each and every one of you and wish you every success in the next chapter. 🎉👏

EXCITEMENT BUILDING IN THE CLUB!!

Sure is as we edge towards Sunday's Ladies All-Ireland Final where we have not ONE, but TWO club players involved with the Kerry Senior Ladies.
Goal keeper Ciara Butler from Castlegregory (already an All-Star and All-Ireland winner....imagine! ) back in the squad after taking a year off, back after a mid season injury and ready to guard the nets if needed on Sunday.
And then we have young Éabha Lyne form Cloghane, former Kerry Minor captain on All-Ireland Final day (pipped by Cavan) but this year has broken into the Kerry Senior Squad. Has seen lots of game time through both the League and Championship and will be ready to spring into action on Sunday when needed.

Two young Sporting Stars from the community enjoying the excitement and highs after their years of training, focus and skill development......a real inspiration for all the young women (and men) playing with Castlegregory (and Annascaul) GAA.

We wish them well on Sunday!....Come on the KINGDOM!!

NOTE - Club are organising a coach for supporters travelling to the game , contact Liz @ 085-2099372
