Robeen National School marked its 50th anniversary with the official opening of new facilities.

The Minister for Education, Hildegarde Naughton from Galway, presided at the recent cutting of the ribbon to mark the opening of the new classroom and Astro Turf pitch at Robeen NS.

Local councillor, Patsy O’Brien, said this was another milestone for a school that has gone from strength to strength with growing student numbers and continued development year after year.

“I want to pay tribute to Principal, Edel Canny, for her leadership and dedication, as well as to all the teachers and staff and Board of Management, whose hard work has helped make the school the success it is today. The facilities are truly magnificent and are a testament to the commitment of everyone involved.

“This year is also special as Robeen National School celebrates 50 years since opening, a remarkable achievement and a proud milestone for the entire community.

“I would also like to acknowledge the wonderful work being done by Robeen Rascals Childcare and Community Centre which provides such an important service to local families and helps give children the best possible start.

“It is fantastic to see students coming from near and far attend the school that is a huge asset to our village and community. I am proud to be part of it and to offer whatever support I can in my role,” said Cllr O’Brien.

Last Thursday we had a wonderful day celebrating the 50th anniversary of our school, a truly special milestone in our history.
As part of the celebrations, we were delighted to welcome Minister for Education and Youth, Hildegarde Naughton, who officially opened our two new classrooms and astroturf pitch. It was also lovely to be joined by Minister Alan Dillon and Keira Keogh TD as well as former Minister, Michael Ring and local Counsellors Patsy O’Brien & Damien Ryan. These fantastic new facilities will provide wonderful opportunities for our pupils for many years to come.
A sincere thank you to everyone who joined us to mark this memorable occasion and helped make the day so special.

🌟 We are delighted to announce that our school has once again been awarded the Gold STEM Award! 🌟

This achievement recognises the tremendous work, enthusiasm and commitment shown throughout the year in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).
A huge congratulations and thank you to all of our pupils and staff whose hard work made this possible. We are incredibly proud of this achievement and look forward to continuing our STEM journey together.
