A huge thank you to the Lynch family for hosting the final YDP workshop of 2017 yesterday evening. Well over 100 came to see what can only be described as a tremendous herd of cattle. As John himself said "everyone starts somewhere" which is the key message to all our YDP members.

Fabulous cattle, riveting demonstrations from John Lynch and Jim Dockery, Cathal from Kiernan Milling and Dr. Ger Ryan of Dovea A.I. - the Q&A session could have gone on for hours!

The stockjudging was superbly led by Anthony Dockery of Rockville Pedigrees who also judged our YDP Stock Judging final between 3 tremendously talented qualifiers.

A big thank you to John and his wonderful family, Sheena, Francis & Pauline Lynch for the hospitality, photographer Shannon Kinahan, Kiernan Milling, Dovea A.I., & to Colin Duffy & Jim Dockery for all the "behind the scenes" preparation for the workshop

Its safe to say that with three overwhelmingly successful YDP workshops for 2017 that we have done the breed proud especially for its 50th anniversary!

Our 3 YDP stock judging qualifiers displayed such talent, knowledge and enthusiasm that overwhelmingly impressed the master judge Anthony Dockery of Rockville Pedigrees.

Grainne Horan of COOLCRAN ANGUS, Christopher O Connor of ROSCOMMON ANGUS & Kate Treacy of SEVENACRES ANGUS battled it out with their stock judging and breed knowledge put to the test.

Emerging victorious was Grainne Horan followed by Christopher O Connor as 1st runner up and Kate Treacy as 2nd runner up.
With our judge commenting that it was no easy task to judge the three outstanding competitors and they are the future leaders of the breed.

To quote the master judge "Grainne has a real spark about her. Her confidence and depth of knowledge rivals that of anyone twice her age in the business. She is really going places and she is so keen to share her expertise with anyone and everyone. A real pleasure to watch her in action"

We are so proud to name Grainne Horan the Irish Angus YDP Stockperson of the Year 2017.
