Another great few days on the water for Atlantic Marine Training, this time working with Edermine Ferry Rowing Club in Co. Wexford, delivering Irish Sailing accredited powerboat training to members of the club. 🇮🇪🚤

A massive well done to everyone who took part. 👏 The enthusiasm, teamwork and willingness to learn throughout the training was fantastic to see. It’s always a pleasure working with clubs that recognise the importance of developing confident, capable powerboat operators to support their activities safely on the water.

Instead of trying to squeeze training into an already hectic summer programme, the off-season gives clubs the opportunity to get members trained, refresh existing skills and work towards recognised Irish Sailing qualifications — so when next season arrives, your team is trained, prepared and ready to go.

With winter approaching and the busy boating season beginning to wind down, now is the ideal time for clubs and organisations to start planning their off-season powerboat training with Atlantic Marine Training.

Winter training gives your club the opportunity to get ahead of next season rather than trying to squeeze training in when activity is at its peak.

🥾 Sometimes the path ahead starts with taking the first step…

This week, the Atlantic Marine Training team have been on the ground with the University of Galway, conducting the first phase of specialist commercial training services.

A busy few days working across a number of areas, combining practical experience, industry knowledge and plenty of time out in the field. We’ll keep the finer details of what we’ve been up to under wraps for now! 👀

It’s been a great 2 weeks completing this first phase of services, and we look forward to being back.

Another fantastic few days on the water as we welcomed a team of Dublin City Council Lifeguards to our training school here in Co. Wicklow for dedicated powerboat training.

Working in a lifeguarding environment means being prepared to operate when conditions are far from perfect. Throughout the training, our instructors worked with the team on developing safe, confident and effective boat-handling skills, combining the required course standards with practical, scenario-based training.

🚤 Close-quarters boat handling
⚓ Anchoring and seamanship
🛟 Man-overboard and casualty recovery
🌊 Operating safely in changing conditions
🧭 Navigation and situational awareness
🤝 Crew communication and teamwork
🚨 Practical scenarios relevant to operational lifeguarding

At Atlantic Marine Training, we strongly believe that minimum standards are the starting point, not the target.

Our instructor team brings together extensive experience across powerboat instruction, Search & Rescue, maritime operations and real-world emergency response, allowing us to put the course syllabus into an operational context for professional teams.

It was a pleasure to work with the Dublin City Council lifeguards and see the standard and enthusiasm they brought to the training. A massive well done to everyone involved 👏🏻

We also want to thank Dublin City Council for choosing Atlantic Marine Training and for continuing to invest in the training and professional development of their lifeguard teams.

Safety Boat Course Success 🚤

A huge well done to our 6 participants who recently completed their Safety Boat Course with Atlantic Marine Training! 👏

It was fantastic to welcome participants from a number of Irish Sailing clubs and Sea Scouting - Ireland groups, with plenty of practical, water-based training throughout the course.

The group worked across multiple boats and a variety of water-based craft, giving everyone valuable experience managing different scenarios and working safely around other vessels and activities on the water.

The course was delivered with a Senior Instructor Safety Boat qualified instructor in attendance, alongside our Centre Principal, who is also a Senior Instructor, both providing a strong level of experience and support throughout the training.

A special thank you to Karl Glynn from AtlanticPowerboating.ie for supporting us on this course. Your assistance was greatly appreciated and helped make the course a great success. 🤝

To all 6 participants — well done on your hard work and commitment, and we wish you all the very best as you put your new skills into practice with your clubs and organisations.

This week, the Atlantic Marine Training team delivered another bespoke own boat tuition session, designed entirely around our customer’s individual requests and training goals.

Rather than following a fixed course syllabus, we worked through the areas the skipper wanted to develop most, providing practical, hands-on coaching aboard their own vessel. Training on your own boat allows you to build confidence with the controls, equipment, electronics, and handling characteristics of the boat you’ll actually be using on the water.

Whether it’s close-quarters manoeuvring, berthing, passage planning, navigation, boat handling in challenging conditions, safety procedures, or simply becoming more confident at the helm, our bespoke tuition is tailored to your experience and objectives.

The result? Training that’s relevant, practical, and immediately applicable every time you head afloat.

This week the Atlantic Marine Training team had the pleasure of delivering an Introduction to Powerboating Course for a family at their holiday home, using their own boat in the environment where they’ll be boating most.

Training on your own vessel is a fantastic way to build confidence, develop practical skills, and become familiar with your boat’s handling, safety equipment, and day-to-day operation. It was great to see everyone progressing throughout the course and enjoying their time afloat.

A big thank you to the family for choosing Atlantic Marine Training. We wish you many safe and enjoyable adventures on the water.

We look forward to welcoming you to Atlantic Marine Training soon for the National Powerboat Course at our training centre, where you’ll continue to develop your skills and gain further experience under the guidance of our award-winning instructor team.
