Our sincere thanks to Caroline Virtue for her wonderful article in both the Dungarvan Leader and the Dungarvan Observer celebrating our Science Open Day at Villierstown National School earlier this month. 📇🖋️

Caroline beautifully captured the excitement, curiosity and joy that filled our school on the day, as pupils proudly shared their projects and discoveries with family, friends and members of the wider community. Days like these remind us how fortunate we are to be part of such a caring and supportive community. 🧲🔮🔬🧬

🔬🌟 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐕𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐨𝐧 𝐚 𝐟𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐒𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐧 𝐅𝐚𝐢𝐫! 🌟🔬

A huge thank you to everyone who came along. I know you were just as impressed as I was by the immense scientific knowledge, technical know-how, and confidence displayed by both our Junior and Senior Rooms. 🎶🤖🔋

Visitors were treated to a wonderful variety of experiments and investigations, including robotics, sound waves, kinetic motion, testing the robustness of eggs (with only one casualty!), bouncing bubbles, electronic and electrical circuits, exploring the hydrophobic nature of shaving foam in a wonderfully artistic way, and a range of buoyancy experiments. From floating and sinking, to gas formation with dancing raisins, to putting Archimedes' Principle to the test by building foil boats capable of carrying the greatest cargo, there was something to fascinate everyone, and even a weather trail! ⛵❄️🎨

The children had great preparing for the event and, while there were certainly some very tired scientists by the end of the day, they should be immensely proud of themselves. 🐮🎨🫧

It was especially lovely to see so many past pupils returning to the school and sharing in the excitement of the day. A special thank you also to Cait, who did a wonderful welcoming visitors to the school👋🎓🙏

Well done to every student who participated. You represented your school brilliantly and demonstrated that science is alive, exciting, and thriving in Villierstown National School! 👏🧪🚀

🔬🧪 A friendly reminder to all in the Villierstown community to come along to the Science Open Day at Villierstown National School! 💡🔌

👩‍🔬🧑‍🔬 Our busy students have been carefully preparing a range of interactive scientific experiments, investigating aspects of science that interest and inspire them. It's a wonderful opportunity to see their hard work in action and learn something new along the way. 🦠⚡

🎶🤖 We were delighted to welcome the Villierstown Montessori this morning for a dry run, and they had a fantastic time exploring the exhibits! 🔦⛵

🍦❄️ We hope to see you all there tomorrow (Wednesday) from 𝟏𝟐-𝟐𝐩𝐦 for a fun, hands-on celebration of science. 🌟🌟

Join us on 𝐖𝐞𝐝𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝟑𝐫𝐝 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐞 from 12–2pm for a fun-filled afternoon of discovery, creativity and excitement at Villierstown National School! 📡⚡💡

We would love to welcome the whole community — grannies, grandads, neighbours, pre- and post- primary children, friends, past pupils - everyone — to come along and see the astonishing work our pupils have been busy preparing. 🧊🌈💧

Be amazed by engaging presentations and hands-on activities from every class, from Junior Infants right up to 6th Class. There’ll be plenty to taste, touch, hear and explore — a true celebration of curiosity and learning! 🧪🔍🦠

It was a great night last night at the Friary Sports Grounds!

Well done to all the girls who represented Villierstown National School so well at the Primary School Sports Athletics. They ran their hearts out and gave it their all. 🙌🙌

What a night for Villierstown National School! Huge congratulations to our mixed team on their hard-fought victory in the Roinn E Final! 🏆💛

It was an incredibly exciting match from start to finish, with points and goals being exchanged throughout in a thrilling contest. The team showed amazing teamwork, perseverance, determination, and grit right to the final whistle. Every player played their part in what was truly a huge team effort. 🤩💪💪

A massive thank you to everyone who came along last night to support the team and shout themselves hoarse from the sidelines — your encouragement made a huge difference!

To win both the Roinn E Football and Hurling Championships in one school year is a fantastic achievement for our small school. What an unbelievable accomplishment! Yay us!! 🙌🙌

Well done again to all involved. We are so proud of you all!
