On Saturday 29th August over 180 of our team will once again take part in the Very Pink Run in aid of Breast Cancer Ireland!

This was a huge success last year as we raised over €6000 for this very deserving charity - and we'd love to beat this amount this year 💪

To mix things up, our Jellytot team in Beacon Court transformed the Tuff Tray into an experimental base by completely covering it in bright, shiny aluminium foil. This simple twist turned a standard painting session into a rich, multi-sensory experience for the children.

As the children painted and pressed down, the foil created a wonderful crinkling sound that kept them captivated and eager to keep exploring. The smooth, reflective surface allowed the vibrant paint colors to glide and pop in exciting new ways, bringing so much joy and laughter to the room.

The unique texture encouraged everyone to use their hands, brushes, and curiosity to test out cause and effect.

Our Appledropts team in Beacon Court prepared an immersive "Dinosaur Kingdom" sensory experience designed to bring prehistoric history to life for the children.

The children engaged with themed tuff trays set up with cold sand, natural leaves, and miniature trees. The children were able to handle, move, and manipulate dinosaur figures within these habitats.

These tactile setups gave the children the unique opportunity to explore what real-life prehistoric ecosystems might have looked like, sparking their curiosity about nature, earth science, and ancient creatures 🦖

Sensory Ice Painting in the Appledrops Room Beacon court! 🎨🧊

With the warm weather outside, our Appledrops team found a creative and refreshing way to stay cool inside!

The children took part in a fantastic sensory activity where they swapped standard water ice cubes for frozen paint cubes. The room was filled with curiosity as the children explored and manipulated the colorful, melting ice.

It was a hit for so many reasons:
• Sensory Exploration: The children loved the contrast of the freezing cold ice melting into smooth, vibrant paint on their paper.
• Science in Action: They talked about temperatures, how solids melt into liquids, and how primary colors blend together as the ice melts.
• Fine Motor Skills: Grasping and gliding the slippery ice cubes was a fun workout for little hands and fingers!

Our team in Cherrywood had their staff night out recently. They took part in a Virtual Reality experience, in which they challenged their skills, leadership and team work. The team enjoyed playing some arcade and console games, boosting everyone's mood and motivation in a fun competitive way. Between laughs and also some screams, it was a great night! ❤️

Our Smarties children in Cabinteely made delicious brownies during their 'Masterchef' themed summer camp last week. They had so much fun mixing the ingredients, measuring, stirring, and preparing their own little brownies.

It is wonderful to see how much they learn through every little activity. Cooking provides so many opportunities for learning, helping them develop their fine motor skills, follow instructions, build confidence, and work together as a team. Most importantly, it encourages them to explore new foods and enjoy the process of creating something themselves ❤️

Our Appledrops in Beacon Court have had such an exciting and creative time during their summer camp.

Recently, the children dived into a sensory-filled "Ice Cream Station" activity. The team set up a colorful play area using vibrant colored sand mixed with water as their ice cream. The children scooped their colorful creations into handmade water cones crafted from recycled, eco-friendly Weetabix cardboard boxes. There was plenty of choosing, scooping, and manipulating, which was fantastic for their fine motor skills, color recognition, and imaginative play.

The room was filled with smiles and a lot of focused, busy hands! The team love finding creative, sustainable ways to play and learn 🍦

Our babies in Beacon Court had an absolute blast outside recently, enjoying the fresh air and some wonderful water play!

The children had a great time splashing around and dancing barefoot in buckets of water. The team also added some colourful balls to the mix, which was a huge hit with the babies as they splashed, giggled, and explored the textures.

It was a fantastic sensory experience and a perfect way to stay cool ❤️

We would like to extend a warm thank you to the family member from the Smarties room who visited us last month to read The Badger Book.

Building a strong partnership between home and school through shared stories is incredibly meaningful to both our children and staff. Seeing the children engage with stories alongside family members is a wonderful experience that greatly supports their learning, builds their confidence, and fosters a lifelong love for reading.
