We were lucky enough to have Stephanie O'Toole who works with the Maigue River Trust come to the school to do a Streamscape with the children. Stephanie gave a presentation to the 6th classes on the wildlife in the river and how to collect samples. After break, both classes got the chance to get into the river and see what they could find. Stephanie provided a key for the children to identify various fish and insects. We found minnows, elvers, sticklebacks, fresh water shrimp to name a few. After break, Stephanie set up all the samples and some skulls and nests of different animals and plants for the other classes to come and look at. The students really enjoyed seeing Science and caring the environment brought to life.
