Today in class, we found ourselves talking about something that feels like such a universal experience - how hard it can be to make friends as an adult.

Not just because there are fewer opportunities to meet people, but because life moves so quickly. We change, adapt to our surroundings and our priorities shift… and sometimes, without even realising it, our friendships and our need for connection shift too.

And then I looked around the room.

There we all were, sitting together, chatting so easily (did we get any sewing done? 😆), finding so many shared values. One of the girls mentioned how the studio seems to attract really kind people, which reminded me of all of the beautiful people who’ve come through my studio doors over the years.

And I stopped for a minute and thought — this is exactly why I started Studio Minti Makers.

Not just to teach sewing, but to create a space where people can slow down, make something with their hands, forget about the heavy stuff for a couple of hours, and find each other along the way 🤍

⭐️ Student Spotlight ⭐️

I thought it’d be a perfect day to share these trousers, as they were made by a mother for her daughter and finished in class this morning 🫶 A reverse Mother’s Day gift!!

This isn’t the first garment that Dee has made for her little girl, and I’m obsessed with each and every piece she makes! (You can’t tell from the photo, but they are in fact very teeny kids’ trousers 🥰)

Using this beautiful printed cotton (swipe for a close-up), she drafted a pattern from a book she bought and had them finished in no time. The talent!

Elasticated at the waist and shirred at the hem, they’re the perfect breezy summer trousers for a wonderful (and very lucky) little girl.🫶
