Just a little background on who Maureen Kiely(nee Duffy) was. She was born in June 1923 and grew up on College Street, Ballyshannon. Her dad, Pat Duffy(originally from Cashel, Co Fermanagh) was a shoemaker and also ran a small grocery shop with Maureen's mum, Alice(nee Burns)(originally from Carran West, Garrison. Maureen had a younger sister, Dympna McIntyre (nee Duffy). Maureen went to primary school in Ballyshannon, and to secondary school in Mt Lourdes, Enniskillen and then on to Belfast to study to be a primary teacher, doing her last year of training in London, before returning to Ballyshannon and on to teach in Cornahilta, Belleek. Mrs Farry taught with her. I often heard her speak of a Master and Mrs Dick too and they might have taught at another school nearby. HAS ANYONE ANY STORIES OR COMMENTS TO SHARE, PLEASE DO. Sr Joseph of the Mercy Convent, Ballyshannon wrote this and gave a copy to my mum in the 1990s. Sr Joseph would have taught my mum in Ballyshannon primary school back in late 1920s and 1930s. GOD REST THEM BOTH IN HEAVEN 🙏🙏🙏

💝💝💝100th birthday💝💝💝
Happy birthday in Heaven to my mum, Maureen Kiely, (nee Duffy) who would have been 100 years old today. If she had have lived, she would have got that special check which she would have loved. I'm sure ur celebrating with my dad, and ur sister Dympna McIntyre ,ur niece Marie Gerene, ur parents, Pat & Alice Duffy, ur grandchild, Geri Palomera,and ur son in law, Michael and the 2 babies that u lost. I'm sure that my birth mum, Annette Moriarty is with u all too .And so many more family and friends. Love and miss u mum. Thank u for putting up with me and all my antics which worried u sick and drove u around the bend. Til we meet again in Heaven ### ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

This belonged to my mum, Maureen. She told me that a young student called Anne gave it to her when she taught in Cornahilta. She treasured it for all the years and I have it now in her memory. I would love to know who Anne was and to let her know how her gift was treasured by mum all these years ###
