Some of our excellent 2nd Year Spanish students enjoyed learning about new cuisines and trying their hand at a little Irish baking this week!

The students learned how to make scones, a firm favourite in Irish home baking, and they were complete naturals in the kitchen! 👏🏼 They thoroughly enjoyed the experience and told us they’ll definitely be bringing the recipe home with them to bake scones for their families. 🥰

A lovely opportunity to share food, culture and new skills — and we think there’ll be plenty of scones being enjoyed in Spain very soon! 🇮🇪❤️🇪🇸

🌿🔬 Science outside the classroom!

Our Second Year Science students got out into the fresh air to investigate ecology in their local environment. They were busy observing and identifying plant species as part of their ecology experiment, putting their classroom learning into practice. 🌱📚

A great opportunity to explore, investigate and learn from the world around us! 💚

🥁We are immensely proud of past student Anna O’Grady (Class of 2026) who has earned a prestigious rowing scholarship to Rutgers University🚣‍♀️

Throughout her years in Our Lady's Bower Secondary School, Anna was known for her resilience, exceptional work ethic and quiet determination. A humble student who always had a smile on her face, she excelled academically particularly in Home Economics & Biology, while showing extraordinary dedication to rowing.

With Anna’s positive outlook, determination & talent, we are certain that she has a bright future ahead⭐️ No doubt we will be hearing Anna O’Grady’s name many more times in the international rowing world🌎

Best wishes also to Sarah Rockett as she begins her studies and rowing journey abroad.

Athlone Boat Club is celebrating a proud moment as Anna O’Grady, has officially signed with Rutgers University Women’s Rowing in the United States. 🇺🇸

This incredible milestone marks the next chapter in a journey that began on the banks of the River Shannon, where Anna first discovered rowing as a young athlete.

We all send Anna the very best for the future and wish her well on this next adventure.

Congrats to 5th Year student Mya Gill, who represented Ireland U18 Girls in Touch Rugby at the European Championships in England recently 🇮🇪🏉

Mya played on the wing as Ireland faced teams from England, France and Singapore, even scoring a brilliant intercept try against France💪 After three days of competing, Ireland were awarded a bronze medal🥉👏

Well done Mya⭐️ We wish you every success on & off the pitch💪Buccaneers Womens Rugby Team

A huge well done to 6th Yr student Krystal Fitzsimmons, who completed the 10km in Dublin today in support of Breast Cancer Ireland💕🏃‍♀️

Krystal was among over 6,000 people who took part in support of this very important cause💪👏She even bumped into Ms Madden along the way! Well done Krystal & Ms Madden⭐️⭐️

The sun was beaming this morning as we welcomed our 1st Year students to Our Lady's Bower Secondary School 💙🩵 The 6th Yrs made sure to offer advice & guidance as they explored their new school🤗 Their amazing Year Head Ms Cooney made them all feel at ease with plenty of icebreaker games! The code on the lockers have been cracked too😉😆

The day finished on a high with a special visit from the Delaney Cup🏆🇱🇻 A big thank you to Ashley Cahill (member of the Westmeath backroom team) for bringing it in following Westmeath’s fantastic success.

Enjoy a well-earned rest this weekend everybody (teachers included😜). We look forward to seeing you all again on Monday, when we will also welcome back our 3rd & 6th Yr students, followed by all students on Tuesday💙🩵

Best of luck to superstars - Amelie Henson (5th Yr) Anna Walsh (TY) & Grace Brosnan (5th Yr) who have been selected for the Connacht U18 Interprovincial hockey squad; with Grace also named as Vice-Captain⭐️👏

The girls will represent Connacht at the Interprovincial tournament this weekend💪🏑 Congrats to on a great achievement👏

It was lovely to welcome some of our Leaving Cert Class of 2026 back to Our Lady's Bower Secondary School this morning as they received their results⭐️ Well done girls, your hard work has all paid off🤩

While today is a day of celebration for many, we know there may be some disappointment too. Remember, these results do not define you, they are just one chapter, with many more still to come. ✨

You should be so proud of yourselves and all that you have achieved. A huge well done also to your parents/guardians & families who have supported you along the way👏 Thanks to your hardworking teachers who have guided and encouraged you throughout your time in 💙🩵
