The one who "has it together."

But being the strong friend doesn't mean they don't need one too.

This Su***de Prevention Month, here's how to check in on the person who usually does the checking in:

Ask twice. "I'm fine" is often the first answer, not the honest one.

Make space without an agenda. Sometimes support looks like just sitting with them, no fixing required.

Strength isn't the absence of struggle. Sometimes it's just very good at hiding it.

If you or someone you know is struggling, support is free and confidential, see the services below.

Free Irish su***de prevention & mental health support services

Samaritans: 116 123 (free, 24/7, phone)

Pieta House: 1800 247 247 (free, 24/7) or text HELP to 51444

HSE Crisis Text Line (Text About It): Text HELLO to 50808 (free, 24/7)

Aware (depression/anxiety support line) : 1800 80 48 48 (free, daily 10am–10pm)

You don’t need to have the answers to save a life.

Sometimes, the most important thing you can do is start the conversation, be direct, hold the space and listen.

If you’re worried about someone, don’t be afraid to ask clearly:
“Are you thinking about su***de?”

Listen without judgement. Don’t rush to fix things or search for the perfect words. Stay present, take them seriously, and help them connect with support.

And if you are struggling yourself, please know that support is available. You do not have to navigate a crisis alone.

Free support in Ireland:
• Samaritans: call 116 123, 24/7

• Pieta: call 1800 247 247 or text HELP to 51444

• Text About It: text HELLO to 50808 for free, 24/7 support

• In an immediate emergency, call 999 or 112 or go to your nearest Emergency Department.

A conversation doesn’t have to be perfect to matter.

Ask directly. Hold the space. Listen. Stay with them. Help them reach support. 💛

You are not alone.

Why is clinical supervision so much more than just a regulatory requirement?

At its core, supervision is a complete support system. It provides the objectivity needed to navigate complex clinical cases, the restorative space to prevent burnout, and the formative environment to refine your skills as a practitioner.

In our latest blog post, we discuss the essential role of the supervisor and the impact they have on the quality of our profession.
If you are thinking about the next chapter in your therapeutic career, this is for you.
