Thinking about starting therapy, but not sure where to begin? 👋

If you’ve been searching for a therapist in Ireland, you’ve probably come across terms like CBT and Person-Centred Therapy, and wondered what they actually mean in practice.

We’ve put together a plain-English guide to help make sense of both:

🔵 CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) is structured and practical. You’ll work with a therapist to identify unhelpful thought patterns and build real tools to manage them. Great for anxiety, panic, OCD, phobias, and depression.

🟢 Person-Centred Therapy is more open-ended and relational. There’s no agenda or homework, just a warm, non-judgmental space to explore what’s going on for you. Particularly helpful for grief, identity, low self-worth, and relationship difficulties.

Neither one is better. It really comes down to what you need, and what kind of experience feels right for you.

The article also includes guidance for therapists and students considering which approach to train in, including information on PCI College’s MSc in CBT and CPD options.

Have a read and feel free to share with anyone who might find it useful 👇
