Selamat hari guru! 🎉

Hello, researchers! Another fun fact has arrived! Do you know why Egypt is called "Mesir", Greece is called "Yunani", and Netherlands is called "Belanda" in Indonesia?

Egypt = Mesir
The original name of Egypt is the Arab Republic of Egypt or Jumhūriyyat Miṣr al-’Arabiyya in Arabic. From its original name, you can already see "Mesir" there. Indonesian people have long been very well known by Egypt. The close relations between countries have been going on for a long time. Even in the Koran, the term Mashr (Mesir) and the term that uses it 35 times.

Greece = Yunani
The official name of the Greece in their own language is Ελληνική Δημοκρατία (Ellinikí Dhimokratía). Greece is known as "Yunani" in Indonesia because of Arabs culture. There used to be an area in Greece called Ionia (now it belongs in Turkey), where the people there are called Yunan and that area is called Yunanistan. This mention of Yunan was carried by the Arabs to Indonesia.

Netherlands = Belanda
Many versions developed why the Netherlands is called "Belanda" by Indonesians. The most common version is because they are blonde. During the colonial era, Indonesians or Javanese had difficulty saying the word "blonde", so they called "londo" for invaders from the Netherlands. The word "londo" developed into "Walanda" to the Netherlands as it is today.

What do you think about these countries' name in Indonesia? Do you find it interesting? Comment down bellow and let us know!

Good afternoon, everyone! How's your day so far? Today is UN Day! Do you know what UN Day is?

UN Day marks the anniversary of the entry into force in 1945 of the UN Charter. With the ratification of this founding document by the majority of its signatories, including the five permanent members of the Security Council, the United Nations officially came into being.

24 October has been celebrated as United Nations Day since 1948. In 1971, the United Nations General Assembly recommended that the day be observed by Member States as a public holiday.

Don't forget to share this and spread the knowledge!

Hello, researchers!✨
Did you know that Australia military force was defeated by birds? The Emu bird to be exact which is bird originated in Australia. It may sounds like a joke, but it happened!

It was all started in 1932 where Emu population kept increasing in Central Australia. Then because they ran out of food, about 20.000 Emus migrated to Western Australia. Lots of corn fields and wheat corps of local farmers were ravaged by the Emus. The farmers then eventually petitioned for military aid from the Minister of Defence, George Pearce, to help them get rid of the Emus. The petition then soon approved by him.

On the 2nd of November 1932, Autralia military force arrived in Campion district, Western Australia with two Lewis automatic machine guns and 10.000 rounds of amunition. After saw 50 Emus, they immediately chase them as shot them, until there were only a dozen out of the thousands were dead by the day’s end. This war were lasted for 6 days. In the end, the Australia military force retreated because roughly 2.500 rounds had been fired and only killed somewhere between 50-200 Emus.

Australia military force were defeated due to Emu's agile motion and their strong body. Not only those two things, Emus is also very smart. They use guerilla tactics which made the military force distracted.

Isn’t it interesting? What are your thoughts on this war? Can you analyze The Great Emu War with IR perspectives? Comment down below😄
