Did you know that the two currently described species of differ in more than their skin patterns, but also by the texture of their skin?
Sharks and rays have teeth-like projections on their skin called “denticles” instead of scales. They are used to effectively channel water making these animals super duper hydro dynamic. Different species have different needs and different denticle shapes and arrangement to suit!
