We like to know "how-tos", don't we?

After listening to the "theories" (e.g. Parenting principles), we tend to ask, "What can we do then?", hoping for practical tips that will "change the kids".

When I started my talk, I knew I said something that might not sit well with everyone.

"Rather than looking for how-tos, we should be asking ourselves: is my heart ready to be shepherded by God, and be transformed? We have listened to the biblical principles of parenting, now am I willing to evaluate MY habits and re-orient my perspectives? Because when we as parents are transformed, our family will be impacted as well. We need this perspective before we start discussing practical ways of parenting our children." 🙏

May God,in His grace, equip us and use us as faithful instruments to shepherd our children's hearts, so that amidst the challenges of this generation, they may grow to be faithful, and become a blessing to others.

We discussed quite a bit about counseling others, and covered questions like:

- How does what we believe about God actually affect the way we deal with problems in our life?

- Many use psychology to understand human problems. As christians, how can we learn from psychology while also taking into account biblical truth and what the Bible teaches about who we are and our problems?

This is a (very) late post, because for some reason, I was reluctant to post any of my birthday photos. I felt my life has been blessed anyway, by families and friends, ministries and work, and I don't need to share of the details online.

But then again, sharing photos on Instagram is a good way to keep memories for us to treasure later, too, I thought.

So here's a little glimpse of my life journey ❤️

Starting from when I was about ... five, to nineteen, to twenty three, to thirty three, to thirty five ... then to fifty 😊

Grateful for the decades of God's blessings.

Throwback to our mini tourney on July 11th.

"Oh, I can't have my husband/wife as my partner on court. We'd disagree a lot, and it'll continue till we reach home.", some shared.

Partnering with spouse in competitive games is not as simple as it looks. It does take a lot of communication, practice, and ... forgiveness☺️

Because, we all potentially make errors. We win points, and we lose some. And in the end, however much we wish to win "all games", these are "just games", and what's more important is how we work things out day to day, and build our family, yes? 🥰

PS: I wonder if we'd still be playing pickleball together in the next twenty five years.

One beautiful night spent under the stars while our ears were spoiled with live classical music and Indonesian national songs❤️

Last Saturday, Jakarta was again so privileged to have had "Konser Akbar Monas" held for the fourth time.

Another humbling, yet mega project to bring music to everyone, regardless of their faith, race, social or economic levels. We all saw how music united tens and thousands of people 🥰

May God bless the whole organising team, everyone involved, and especially Dr. Stephen Tong who inspired hundreds of others to be involved in this project. Blessed.
