Stative verbs (kata kerja keadaan) adalah kata kerja yang menunjukkan keadaan, bukan tindakan. Kata kerja ini digunakan untuk menyatakan perasaan (like, love), pikiran (know, understand), kepemilikan (have, own), dan indra (see, hear). Contohnya: I know him, I like ice cream, dan I understand now.
Walaupun maknanya bisa “sekarang”, stative verbs biasanya tidak digunakan dalam bentuk continuous (-ing). Jadi kita tetap memakai simple present, bukan present continuous. Misalnya: I need help now (benar), bukan I am needing help.
