There is a kind of silence that comes not from peace, but from a father who never learned how to say "I love you."
When the father who once carried you on his shoulders slowly watches you build your own life, not because he stopped caring, but because he doesn't know how to say he misses you without sounding weak.
A father can be tough. He can be quiet. He can stand at the door watching you leave without saying a word.
But behind that silence, his heart is often whispering,
"Why, my child? Do you know how proud I am of you? Do you know I'd give anything to hear you call me just to talk?"
He is tired because he worked double shifts so you could have what he never did. He is tired because he showed love through sacrifice, not words. He is tired because he's getting older, and he's afraid you'll only realize how much he loved you when he's gone.
And perhaps that is the most heartbreaking kind of love...
When a father misses his child, sometimes what he truly longs to hear is only this:
"I know, Dad. I see everything you did. Thank you. I love you too."
To every child reading this: your father may not say it, but he feels it deeply. Call him. Sit with him. Ask him about his life. While you still can.
If this found you today, save it and share it with someone who needs to call their dad tonight.
