Ever since the Indonesian Government has announced its latest National Energy Policy which results in the concept of "energy mix", geothermal energy has been gaining momentum as more and more people become attracted to it recently. The Government's target for the nearest future, which is to have an operating geothermal generator capacity of 3,556 MW, has induced the Government to revise various re
gulations concerning geothermal energy, improve the investment climate in the field, and drive various financial institutions to aid the development of technologies for geothermal energy. Yet despite all those efforts, the scarcity of scientists and engineers working in the geothermal industry and the lack of research and limited knowledge on the energy in universities remain a grave challenge. The Department of Geothermal Energy for Master's Degree, FTTM, ITB, takes it as its most important responsibility to create more highly qualified scientists and engineers in that very field. Therefore, it is for the sequence times organizing the Seventh ITB Geothermal Workshop in 2017, themed "Uniting Geothermal Energy Stakeholders through Collaborative Effort for National Prosperity". The event will be held in Bandung on March 21-22, 2018, and it is expected that the event would become a melting pot for the sharing of knowledge and experiences in the field of geothermal energy. making Indonesia the world's geothermal center of excellence.
