This initiative led NIW and ITB to create ITB de Labo and do collaborative research to develop the advanced technology of NIW and increasing product design innovation from ITB.
ITB de Labo is the first laboratory developed by NIW outside of Japan which is directly supervised by the NIW Product Development section.
This lab was inaugurated on Friday, February 14, 2020, and in charge of researching and developing NIW projects in engineering and relations, such as design engineering, develop renewable energy projects, IoT system, and many more.
This program aims to develop the ITB student by enriching their knowledge and practical skills and create an international human resource network between Indonesia and Japan.
During the internship, the students will do NIW projects by doing 3D CAD work, the micro-hydro power plant project supervision that includes the designing until the manufacturing process to ensure the outcome meets the specifications, and developing a RnD tech.
ITB de Labo is located at Fluid Mechanic Laboratory in the Faculty of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (FMAE), Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB).

A little glimpse of the quality control process we do with our manufacturing partner, RCE. Here you can see the turbine assembly and adapter of the crossflow turbine which has been installed in the container. Every part is checked properly according to the specifications requested by NIW. Biggest appreciation to all those who worked hard for this project.

Apart from doing quality control, we also gained knowledge from the sharing session conducted by NIW’s manufacturing partner, Mr. Kusetiadi Raharjo from HEKSA. This sharing session is very useful to increase the knowledge about micro hydropower plants and the technologies developed in the present and future that may be useful to improve turbine performance and efficiency. Thanks to the manufacturing partner, we got such a good experience and knowledge.

In this post, we want to show how the quality control process is carried out at the MHPP manufacturing site, HEKSA. During this process, the drawing document containing the dimensions of the product and other specifications requested by NIW will be the benchmark for measuring the finished product. This process is carried out with the hope that the quality of the product will increase.

A few weeks ago, we’ve posted our lab condition. Now, we would like to show you the new building plan that was designed to be built in the student corner area in the Faculty of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering ITB near our laboratory. It will be called “Teras FTMD” or FMAE’s terrace. The construction structure is designed with kinetic architecture and will use an eco-friendly concept by utilizing renewable energy such as solar panels. This building was designed with the latest mechanical technology and will be a distinctive technology demonstrator.
