"I have been avoiding this Fresk based on what people have been telling about it. I don't believe in the existence of 'global warming' or 'climate change'.”
As facilitators of the Climate Fresk you would expect this kind of feedback from people who are affected by climate change denial. For some, the reality of global warming feels too overwhelming to accept, and it becomes easier to cling to denial narratives—often fueled by the fossil fuel industry or other interest groups—than to face the disturbing truth during a workshop.
With the Conscious Evolution Collage, we encounter a deeper and more prevalent form of denial: the denial of the Metacrisis and its deeper roots.
Recently, a person actively involved in sustainability told one of our facilitators:
“I have been avoiding this collage based on what people have been telling me about it. I don't believe in the existence of a 'root cause' or a 'human nature'.”
Sadly, even within communities committed to sustainability, many struggle to recognize the Metacrisis and its underlying roots. This is understandable—it forces us to confront uncomfortable truths about ourselves and society. Ironically, the Conscious Evolution Collage has a card that directly addresses this psychological barrier, which stands in the way of the much-needed profound change.
Yet having the courage to face the deeper roots of our existential challenges is fundamental to be able to turn them into opportunities for Conscious Evolution.
