You don’t have to be the best in the industry to land the job of your dreams. Being proactive sets you way ahead of most candidates. These are some of the ways you can get ahead of the competition, and they don’t include traditional job search methods!⁣

Let me know in the comments what other unusual job search methods you have come across or used for your own search 👇 @ Starbucks Magyarország

Let’s be real - you can’t expect to land a (GREAT) job by sitting in front of your computer alone - well, you perhaps can, but it would take a lot longer.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
🔥 ACTIVE > PASSIVE⁣ ❄️⁣
⁣⁣
Put yourself out there. Meet people. Ask about openings. Talk about your skills and what you bring to the table. Exchange business cards. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
✅ Yes, print professionally designed business cards!!!! It will make all the difference.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Keep it simple. Your name, contact information, and your title, e.g “Graphic designer/ mechanical engineer / virtual assistant”. Add a one-liner at the bottom indicating what kind of position you are seeking.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Once you hand over your business card, your work is not done - politely ask the recruiter if you can have theirs - after the event, follow up with everyone you had a conversation with via email.⁣ 📧 ⁣
⁣⁣
Be an active job seeker. Not a passive one.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
I’m with you 🤝 if you drop a question for me in my DM I promise to get back to you stat!⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Have you used a business card for your job search? If not do you plan to? Let me know in the comments - also save this post as a reminder!

Imagine this. You meet someone for the first time, and this is what they see:

🙂 Your smile
💁‍♀️The way you present yourself
👨‍💼How you hold yourself up
🤝That firm handshake
👁 Eye contact

All this equals to = C O N F I D E N C E 🔥💪

What if we gave our resume and overall job application that same importance? The way your cover letter comes across, how your resume is formatted, the way your name is bolded there at the top, how your skills are strategically placed, the way you communicate via email when following up. All of it is YOUR FACE - your mirror.

Groom it. Make sure it looks good. Exudes confidence and oozes charisma and makes the reader wanting to know more. Make it sexy!

It will take you places, that I can promise you.

Give me a 🔥 in the comments if you agree! 👇

Thought now that we’re 200 strong (woohoo!), it’s time to introduce the girl behind the words.⁣ 💁🏻‍♀️

My name is Nisreen - my friends call me Nissy. ⁣🥰
I currently live in Budapest, Hungary 🇭🇺 with my husband and 3 year old son. Before we moved here two years ago, we lived in Malaysia 🇲🇾 for 7 years! That’s where I did my undergrad (BA in International Business), and my post-grad (Masters in Management Psychology).⁣

I have 8 years of work experience, 4 of which have been in recruitment. Most of my recruiting work is focused on the education and non-profit sector in the US.⁣

𝐅𝐮𝐧 𝐅𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐬 𝐀𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐌𝐞⁣
🎁 No one ever forgets my birthday because it falls on New Years Eve - 31st December! 😂 (and maybe because Facebook reminds them)⁣

👩🏻‍💻I freelance through Upwork - it’s given me so much freedom and the ability to stay home with my son 💕⁣

🚘 I’m the worst road tripper but I love going on them - I’m always either asleep or throwing up 😂🙈 (please tell me it’s not just me!!!)⁣

📚 I LOVE reading - it’s all I used to do when I was younger during my free time - and now I barely read. :( I listen to podcasts instead. 🤷🏻‍♀️⁣

𝗪𝐡𝐲 𝐈 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐏𝐚𝐠𝐞⁣
I want to help people build sustainable job seeking and career skills that will last them a lifetime, throughout ups and downs in their careers, rather than resort to quick fixes. I believe everyone should have this skill set, and it’s SO important as your future depends on your ability to land a job! And not just any job - your dream job.⁣

If you followed me, it means you found value in what I’m providing here. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for giving me a space in your feed. 😊🙏 I’m learning as I go and appreciate your support!⁣

⁉️Tell me a fun fact about you in the comments 👇 I want to get to know you guys!⁣

Let’s chat!!! 😊😊👇 ⁣

Job hunting for 6 months (on average) means saying goodbye to financial stability if you’re searching while out of a job! 💀⁣

There’s a fine line between persistent and pushy when following up! Shoutout to for telling it like it is.

Ever remember your best friend or spouse’s birthday a day or two before, and actually forget about it completely on their actual birthday?⁣

Yup. You know what I’m talking about.

How many of you have lost a job opportunity because you failed to show up to a phone or in-person interview on time?⁣

It happens more often than you’d think.⁣

Sometimes, it’s due to a time zone mistranslation if the recruiter is in a different location. Sometimes, it’s out of sheer forgetfulness on the candidate’s part.⁣

🚨 Be ready and alert ⁣

We have technology to help remind us of things, so utilize it. It would make you a smart forgetful person, rather than a dumb forgetful person. 😬😇 Being forgetful is bad enough as it is (guilty here 🙋🏻‍♀️).⁣

⭐️ Set 2 reminders on your phone, one 30 minutes prior to the start time, and the second during the last 5 minutes.⁣
⏰ Make sure you log the right time zone. If I’m doubt, Google it. Still in doubt? Doesn’t hurt to double check with the recruiter. ⁣

Get it right! ⁣

Have you ever experienced a time zone mistranslation? Tell us about it👇

⁣⁣
“I’m so tired.”⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Sound familiar? I know - I’ve been there. Job hunting is hard work. 😓⁣⁣
⁣⁣
On average, it takes around 6 months of consistent job hunting to land a job. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
It takes a lot of trial and error ❌, messed up interviews, painful rejections, and internal head-banging for something you could have said or done differently that may have changed an outcome. 🤦🏻‍♀️😖😩🤬⁣⁣
⁣⁣
The most important thing is learning from the process and getting better as you go! 💪 Make sure you’re in a good place to start your job search - being structured is key to landing the job you want, faster.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
📍I am currently developing a FREE checklist to kick start your job search. If you are interested to receive one, send me a dm or leave a comment below and I’ll make sure you’re among the first to know when it’s launched! ❤️🤗💌⁣⁣

Happy Friday!!! 🙌 After a long week, I’m ready to relax! How are you planning to spend your weekend?

🧠 Growth Mindset > Fixed Mindset 🧠 ⁣

If you’re not familiar with this concept I highly recommend the book Mindset by Carol Dweck. No matter what stage you are at in life, if you have a fixed mindset you have to read this book. It’s eye-opening.

Tick tock - 1 hour left until your interview.⁣

Sixty minutes until you prove your worth. Even if you prepared the night before, you will likely still get the jitters.⁣

Remember: the 60 minutes leading up to your interview are VITAL. They will determine your state of mind during the interview. These 60 minutes are not when you are still driving in traffic on your way to the interview location. Or beginning to prepare for your interview - you should already be prepped. ⁣

This time is for you to relax.⁣

These 30-60 minutes should be spent feeding yourself positive affirmations and eliminate all panic and negativity. ⁣

💭 Take deep, relaxed breaths. ⁣
☕️ Grab a coffee or your favorite beverage - sip slowly⁣
🎧 Listen to some calming music⁣
🧘🏻‍♀️ Meditate⁣
🙏 Pray⁣
🙆‍♀️ Do some stretches⁣

Do whatever you know will calm you and prep you mentally for that interview. If you need to go over your notes and resume one last time for a few minutes, go right ahead, but do it slowly and calmly - eliminate all panic.⁣

Trust me - you will ace it because you will be your most authentic self during that interview. ⁣

💫 What relaxes you the most before a big event (meeting/interview/exam, etc)? 💫
