Hurricane Matthew has hit Haiti hard, very hard. The death toll is over 1,000, while thousands have been displaced and are now homeless.

Haitians have endured and continue to endure many hardships every day. However, many can testify that Haitians are some of the happiest people on earth. Their joy in the midst of tribulation is inexplicable and astounding.

Haïti Ma Chérie, a social enterprise born in College Station, Texas, is committed to the well-being of Haiti and its People. Even though we are small, the difference we can make is huge thanks to a large number of dedicated, hardworking, and ambitious college students at Texas A&M University that have come together to help raise money for Haiti.

We would like to emphasize that ALL proceeds will go to Haiti and will be spent in the best interest of the locals not only in the short run but especially the long run.

We will directly bring the funds to Haiti in December with a team of volunteers ready and willing to help where help is needed. We will make sure we are providing more jobs and not taking jobs away from capable residents. We will pay a fair wage to all who work, and our team will voluntarily help alongside. We will partake in service projects delegated to us by OLAD (Organization Lemuel D'Aides aux Démunis), a partner Non-Profit in Anse Rouge.

Important disclosure: Most trip expenses will be paid for with donor funds.

It is very important to us for donors to know exactly where their money is going, and for this reason, all financial information will be available to the public.

We want to welcome all on this journey, and we are very thankful for your donation.

Hi all,

As most of you have heard, Hurricane Matthew stormed through Haiti taking many lived, and homes. Al Jazeera has reported over 1,000 deaths thus far. This is absolutely devastating news, and we believe it is our responsibility to act immediately and bring help to those in need.

This is why our team has come together and decided to launch a non-profitable fundraising campaign starting this week. We will fundraise until December through a number of ways, and send a team down to Haiti to ensure that the funds are used in a way that will best benefit Haitians in the short run, and in the long run.

It is tremendously important for us to continue to abide by the “teach a man to fish” principle, and we will not waver in that.

We hope that you will participate in this journey with us, and show Haiti just how much the world cares about their growth, development, and wellbeing.

With Love,
Haiti Ma Cherie

Folks, the first HMC Haitian art exhibition was a tremendous success! First and foremost we want to thank Jose Quintana for letting us speak and set up the exhibit at the amazing SEAD Gallery. Without him, this would not have been possible.
Here's for the incredible news: We raised over $1500! Even more importantly, we were able to shed light on the pressing needs in Haiti, and share our way to meet those needs.
We are so excited to keep on displaying Haiti's beauty portrayed through art, and to keep on giving Haitian children in need the gift of Education. - L'union fait la force.

Meet Chiberlie Geffrard,
Chiberlie is a beautiful 11 year old girl, who is in the process of progressing to the sixth grade upon successful completion of her exams. Chiberlie has several older siblings who all attend school in the city, costing the family a significant portion of their income, and making it difficult for Chiberlie to cover her own costs. In addition, she lives about an hour away from the school on foot, which she has to walk every day, often in extreme heat conditions.

What is a Social Enterprise?

In short, a Social Enterprise is a for-profit business with a social mission. Haïti Ma Chérie purchases Original Haitian Paintings from Haiti and sells these overseas, and using a portion of the profits fulfills their mission to provide Haitian children in need with the gift of education.

Why is Haïti Ma Chérie a social enterprise and not a non-profit?

Nothing is wrong with creating a non-profit; it simply isn’t how we envision helping Haiti. We want to educate, create jobs and stimulate the Haitian economy. Our first step is to purchase Haitian art made from Haitian hands on Haitian soil. Secondly, we promote commercial business models that will drive entrepreneurs in the Western World to invest in underdeveloped markets in order to strengthen these countries’ economies and find sustainable ways to grow their markets. Thirdly, we acknowledge the humanitarian and social needs in underdeveloped countries like Haiti, so we give back in order to complete the purpose of Social Entrepreneurship; Haïti Ma Chérie gives back in a way that sends children to school, so that from within Haiti, we will raise a generation of innovative entrepreneurs, teachers, businessmen, computer scientists, engineers and thinkers.

What are your thoughts and opinions? Please share and let us know below!

Good morning world! Checking in to tell you all how exciting it is that we reached our $8,000 goal! We did not anticipate reaching it this soon, so we've decided to raise even more money during the last 15 days of the Kickstarter so we can go back to Haiti and show you a lot more about what we're doing, and who we're helping. A picture is worth a thousand words, right? None the less, with the $8,000 we've already raised we will grow as an enterprise to reach more people, which means more people will be helped. Tremendous excitement and passion have overtaken us, so we are channeling this energy to bring to the world a successful and innovative social enterprise. Please join us on this journey!
