Dear friends,

Thank you for visiting our page. We have decided to hitchhike to Rijeka from London during our Easter break to fundraise for Link Community Project, a charity that works at all levels of the education system to identify and remove the obstacles to quality education currently in rural districts of Ethiopia, Ghana, Malawi, South Africa and Uganda. We decided to do this because we beli

Day 8. After an enjoyable chat (+back-aching stay) at the service station, we hanged around some more there in the morning before securing our most epic hitch. We boarded the caravan with 2 dogs inside and 2 builders who drove us all the way to Croatia!!!!! There were very few cars on the way (Villach-Slovenia-Croatia) and we managed to cross the border with such a big gang without much fuss. So here we are, CROATIA!!!!!! Everyone, rejoice and praise the Lord!!!!!

Day 7. Started with a disadvantageous spot (as per most days) and on our way to the zoo, which we thought could end up being our new opportunity, we got picked up by an old Japanese gentleman who brought us to a much better spot. We soon got picked up again by a university student who drove us all the way closer to Villach. We ended up in a very quiet service station (the motorway itself was pretty quiet, thats why) where we met two fellow hitchhikers travelling to italy. We spent an afternoon waiting, thinking, chatting and bathing in the sun. Finally we got a lift by an Austrain hunter/eco-energy businessman to the next service station even closer to Villach. so here we are, staying overnight in that service station. only that the shop is closed every night for two hours so we are now in the female bathroom. Some taking a foot bath and others falling asleep. Hopefully very early in the morning tomorrow, we would be leaving the German-speaking countries with the truckers!!!!

Day 6. Started at a wrong place and eventually aimed to beg for enough money to take a direct coach to Croatia until we found out its actually 80pounds per person. (We also found out Jonathan's principles worth a good 30 euros!!!) Not long before our first family pick up (daddy, pregnant woman and a little girl) who drove us to Esslingen, a medieval town where we got treated ice creams and introduced to touristic spots!! :)
We then got dropped off at a WC on a motorway and got picked up very soon by a young couple who was driving to Munich. Finally we got picked up an Austrian couple who finally brought us out of GERMANY!!!! We have finally entered AUSTIRA!!! We then got "invited" to coffee (although no such place was open) and dropped off at the pretty city Salzburg! Had a tedious and tiring hotel search during which we discovered a wifi-less McD! (big disappointment!) Great great miraculous move day!

Day 5. Following our pattern of travel, it's our stuck day again! Recovering from our extreme tiredness, we had a nice little walk around Dettingen (near the hotel we stayed in) and discovered a few interesting little shops (it reminded us of German Christmas Markets....) had a lift (our second female pick-up) to a small service station in the middle of nowhere.... then went back to Metzingen (a fashion outlet that was filled with tourists) hoping to meet something better there. Entertained the passers-by with our song medley and poem reciting. We also had our first Mc-Ribs. Finally got a hitch to the hotel we booked yesterday (destiny we guess). Had a traditional German/Serbian dinner (dont know how thats related but there you go) that included some weird pasta and pig blood (zhu hong) like sausages (not black pudding). No mundane photo for our mundane day.... hopefully the travel pattern continues, and we would be MOVING tomorrow!
