Emergency Medicine The school will take place in Dubrovnik, Croatia, from July 31st until August 7th 2017. Participation fee is 620,00 EUR
This is a project that brings together students from all around the world interested in gaining and exchanging knowledge in the field of emergency medicine. It is organised by EMSA Zagreb and Student Section of Croatian Medical Association of Zagreb. The main theme of the project is emergency medicine and it consists of the following topics:
• Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (ILS course conducted by
ERC instructors)
• Traumatic Brain Injury
• Basic surgical skills
• Paediatric emergencies
• Management of trauma patient
• Diverse emergencies (drowning, poisoning, hypothermia, etc.)
• Principles of critical medical thinking
The scientific part is composed of lectures, interactive seminars, practical skills and daily cases held by leading experts in the field of emergency medicine. Every student will have a chance to renew and expand his/her knowledge, as well as master new skills. After lectures each day, planned for you are daily activities which allow you to experience the city’s ancient architecture and Mediterranean charm. Sightseeing in small groups and our “City Run” scavenger hunt allow you to network and improve your team working skills inside the old city walls. We take two trips to neighbouring islands, where you have time to visit the beaches and go cliff jumping. And of course, there is plenty of free time to go do whatever you please. Whether you enjoy shopping, trying Croatian cuisine, or kayaking with others, you have several opportunities to experience something new in the beautiful city of Dubrovnik. Lectures officially conclude on August 7th with a written exam and a certificate of attendance, which is handed to each participant at a ceremonial gala dinner. Evaluation of the school is made through a questionnaire which grades all the segments (accommodation and venue, lectures, seminars, workshops, cultural and social life, lecturers and the organizing committee). The number of participants is limited to a total of 40 for the purpose of achieving a better quality of work in small groups using an individual approach.
