World Environment Day 2026
The António Correia de Oliveira School celebrated World Environment Day, commemorated on 5 June, through an initiative developed as part of the Eco-Schools programme and the Erasmus+ project ‘Data Journalism for Climate Action’ (DJ4CA).
This date serves as a reminder of the importance of protecting the environment and promoting actions that contribute to the preservation of ecosystems and a more sustainable future. Over the coming week, pupils will be invited to reflect on current environmental challenges and on the role each of us plays in protecting the planet.
Small actions can make a difference. Together, we continue to build a more sustainable school and a greener future for everyone.

The António Correia de Oliveira School held its final session of the Pilot Teacher Training Programme, with the support of the Barcelos and Esposende Teacher Training Centre. During this session, which took place on 3 June, the teachers presented their work on the OI1 modules. Based on the lesson plans for these climate education and media modules, they suggested others lessons plans that align with curriculum themes, with a view to enhancing curriculum integration. This training also benefited from the support of the School Libraries network.

The António Correia de Oliveira School Group took part in the 8th edition of the Festa do Brincar, part of the local initiative “Brincar é Coisa Séria!”, organised by the Municipality of Esposende on 30 and 31 May.
This participation provided yet another opportunity to share and disseminate with the community the good practices developed in our schools, highlighting the role of play as an essential tool for learning, inclusion, creativity and the holistic development of children.
Throughout the event, the School Group presented activities inspired by active and innovative methodologies, many of which were enriched by the experience gained through Erasmus+ projects, which have helped to strengthen the European dimension of education, promote intercultural understanding and implement student-centred teaching strategies.
The initiative brought together dozens of organisations from the municipality in an atmosphere of sharing, discovery and community participation, reinforcing the importance of the right to play and of children’s involvement in meaningful learning experiences.

World Energy Day is celebrated on 29 May. Its aim is to raise awareness and encourage people to develop strategies for energy efficiency and conservation, as well as to highlight the environmental impacts and the importance of preserving natural resources. It is also an opportunity to promote renewable energy sources: wind, hydro, solar and biomass, amongst others. At António Correia de Oliveira Primary School, we are marking World Energy Day today by turning off the lights from 10.05 am to 10.35 am.

On 27 May 2026, the third meeting of the Eco-Schools Council was held at the António Correia de Oliveira School Group, specifically at the Apúlia Primary School. The excellent turnout at the meeting by members of the local community demonstrates everyone’s commitment to promoting more sustainable practices and developing a school that is increasingly environmentally conscious and friendly.
During the session, a very positive review was given of the activities organised throughout the school year, highlighting the commitment, dedication and spirit of collaboration shown by pupils, teachers, teaching assistants, parents, the local authority (Apúlia, Fão and Esposende Parish Council) and other partners in the local community (Esposende Environmental Education Centre, Resulima, Rio Neiva Association, Municipal Civil Protection Office, Institute for Nature Conservation and Forests, North Coast Natural Park, Esposende Ambiente, Esposende Agricultural Cooperative, the school group’s Ciência Viva Club, Esposende Municipal Commercial and Industrial Association, Esposende Town Council, Parents’ and Guardians’ Association of Apúlia Primary School, Apúlia Motorbike Association, Quercus; Continente in Esposende, Fão Nautical Club, Gemeses Recreational, Sports and Cultural Group, Apúlia Surf School, Onda Magna Surf School, various local restaurants (wine bars), local fishermen, GNR, Social Shop).

The António Correia de Oliveira School group held another session of the Pilot Training Programme for Teachers, with the support of the Barcelos and Esposende Teacher Training Centre. During this session, which took place on 26 May, teachers explored the work related to Module 5 – Inclusive and Accessible Teaching Practices for Climate Education and Module 6 – Assessing and Evaluating Climate Education Outcomes.

Partnerių susitikimas Kroatijoje
2026 m. gegužės 21–22 d. vyko tarptautinis projekto Erasmus+ Data Journalism for Climate Action (DJ4CA) partnerių susitikimas Kroatijoje, kurį organizavo Srednja škola Ban Josip Jelačić. Susitikime dalyvavo partneriai iš Lenkijos, Lietuvos, Turkijos, Latvijos, Portugalijos ir Kroatijos. Susitikimo metu aptarta projekto eiga, WP2 rezultatai ir veiksmų planas dėl WP3 ir IO2 rezultatų. Partneriai aptarė techninius, organizacinius projekto klausimus, plėtros ir vertinimo veiklas.
Išsamiai nustatytas ir LTT mobilumo Portugalijoje organizavimas studentams 2026 m. spalio 14-16 d., dalyvių veiklų tvarkaraštį ir planuojamą veiklą. Data Journalism for Climate Action
