WE WON! ICHK HLY named PRIMARY WINNER!

We are incredibly thrilled and proud to announce that ICHK Hong Lok Yuen (Kindergarten & Primary) is the winner in the Primary School category in the AIA Healthiest Schools Competition 2025/26!

Out of so many incredible schools, our commitment to student wellbeing, our outdoor-driven curriculum, and our holistic approach to health have earned us this top honor. ICHK Primary won by quantifying emotional health through a holistic social and emotional learning framework. Data collected via a wellness assessment platform between September 2025 and January 2026 revealed that students' emotional regulation scores climbed from 69 percent to 74 percent, while general emotional well-being indicators rose from 74 percent to 83 percent.

We will continue working on our school-based wellbeing initiatives to support our students’ flourishing.

Next stop: Thailand! We are honored to represent Hong Kong at the regional finals, where we look forward to exchanging insights with education experts and fellow inspiring schools from across Asia.

Stomp Into Creativity: Year 4 Performance

Over the past weeks, ICHK Primary Year 4 students collected recycled and everyday items, tested the sounds each one could make, and practiced their parts together. In the last week of term, they performed their original STOMP-inspired show in assembly, bringing their five units of inquiry to life.

Using transformed objects as instruments, the students demonstrated what they've learned about creativity, heritage, sound energy, design thinking, and sustainability—proving that innovation doesn't require new things, just imagination and teamwork.

In ICHK Primary Chinese class, we celebrated the Dragon Boat Festival with great enthusiasm this week. Students made beautiful dragon boat models and fragrant mugwort sachets during indoor craft sessions. We also explored the traditions behind this special holiday. Through these fun activities, everyone gained a deeper appreciation for our rich cultural heritage.

As part of their UOI on how forces affect objects, ICHK Primary Year 2 students conducted experiments with air resistance last week.

The challenge was to investigate how different variables influence a parachute's descent. To explore their predictions, they tested each parachute using 3 floor levels in the school. This hands-on inquiry provided examples of how invisible forces— such as gravity pulling down and air resistance pushing up—interact to control motion.

Hong Kong Floor Hockey Finals 2026 — ICHK HLY Champions!
ICHK Primary Floor Hockey teams competed in the Hong Kong Finals hosted by American International School and Kingston International School.

After strong wins in round-robin play, our team showed great resilience and teamwork, earning a 3–3 draw against KIS and ultimately securing the Hong Kong B-Team Championship (2026).

The A-Team began with a 3–0 win over AIS, then responded brilliantly after a challenging match against KIS. Despite facing strong opposition, the team kept competing—ending in a competitive performance including a standout goal and a final score of 6–2 - the closest game we have ever had with Kingston's A-team.

Congratulations to all players for their progress, determination, and team spirit—well done!
