DBS Olympiad in Informatics Team

[Fourth Consecutive Champion in the Hong Kong Olympiad in Informatics]

The Hong Kong Olympiad in Informatics (HKOI) 2025/26 was held on 6 December 2025. Our Team won 6 Gold Medals, 4 Silver Medals and 6 Bronze Medals. This is the second time that all of our representatives won a medal in this competition since 2020/21.

With this result, we have captured the Overall Championship (Grand School Prize) in this contest, for the fourth consecutive year.

Thanks must be given to Mr. R.K.Y. Cheng, Mr. K.W. Cho our Headmaster, Dean of Culture, as well as Teachers in-charge Mr. L.T. Chan, Mr. K.L. P**n and Mr. Y.H. Tang, for providing all the assistance we need and showing their utmost support to our Team. We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to Mr. A.Y.H. Leung (‘17), our coach over the past year, for his dedication in strengthening the coding skills of our team members. As a representative of University of Cambridge at the International Collegiate Programming Contest World Finals, as well as a four-time World Finalists in the Meta Hacker Cup, Mr. Leung is a top-class programmer. He has provided valuable advice on problem-solving ideas, and envisioned our boys to reach new heights with his experience. We would not have achieved such results without his guidance all the way.

[National Olympiad in Informatics 2025]

The National Olympiad in Informatics (全國青少年信息學奧林匹克競賽) was held in Shaoxing from 12 July to 18 July. Congratulations to Carson Ho (11G) for winning a Bronze Medal.

The Hong Kong Team won 1 Silver Medal and 5 Bronze Medals in this competition.

The Finals of the Hong Kong Secondary School Coding Challenge 2025 was held on 9 July. Our Team of 7 finalists won 4 Gold Medals, 1 Silver Medal and 1 Bronze Medal.

[International Olympiad in Informatics 2024]

The IOI 2024 was held in Alexandria, Egypt, from 1 to 8 September. Congratulations to Culver Kwan (11G) for winning a Silver Medal in the competition!

This is the 8th consecutive year for Diocesans to represent Hong Kong to take part in the IOI. We will continue to strive for perfection and achieve great heights in international competitions.

As the academic year draws to a close, we would like to express our deepest gratitude to the graduating class of 2024.

Team members in this cohort have been great pillars of the team for several years. They were key players in every inter-school competition they have ever taken part, as they received medals every year, and helped secure 3 Championships in the HKOI, from 2021 to 2024. We would never have reached such heights without their tremendous contributions.

We would also like to congratulate all officials in this cohort, namely Captain Isaac Chan, Vice Captains Ernest Hsia and Bernard Shiu, for receiving offers from the University of Cambridge, to read Computer Science, Engineering, and History and Politics respectively. We would also like to congratulate all members in this cohort as they all received offers from renowned universities all over the world. We wish them a great success in their future endeavours!

Among 10132 contestants from 29 countries/regions, 8 of our students ranked first in the Junior Group by achieving a perfect score, and 2 our of students ranked top 10 in the Senior Group.
