【珊瑚修復探索之旅工作坊（7-9月）開始接受報名喇！】

珊瑚學院好開心獲得香港海洋公園保育基金資助，並同香港海洋公園合作喺 7-9 月舉辦「珊瑚修復探索之旅」工作坊🙌🏻如果你所在嘅中小學或非牟利團體有興趣了解珊瑚學院嘅珊瑚修復科研工作同成果，就千祈唔好錯過嚟緊舉行嘅「珊瑚修復探索之旅」工作坊喇！

珊瑚學院將會帶大家到訪香港海洋公園，近距離觀察珊瑚及參觀海洋公園嘅培育珊瑚設施，以認識珊瑚喺生態上嘅重要性同香港嘅珊瑚多樣性🪸我哋亦安排咗更多精彩活動，務求令大家更加了解珊瑚學院嘅珊瑚修復及科研工作同成果！🔬參加工作坊嘅朋友仲有機會得到精美紀念品🎁

活動詳情：
⭐對象：本地中小學及非牟利團體
⭐人數：20位以內（參加團體需自行組團，並派一位將同行的負責人作代表報名及協調）
⭐年齡：10歲或以上
⭐活動語言：廣東話

【珊瑚學院世界環境日&海洋日外展活動系列第二彈！】

除咗6月8號嘅世界海洋日之外，聯合國亦將6月5號定為世界環境日，旨在提高普羅大眾嘅環保意識，同埋呼籲各國政府多啲關注環境問題🌏

珊瑚學院早前應邀參與喺建造業零碳天地舉行嘅「六五環境日暨全民回收日」嘉年華，喺攤位透過遊戲深入淺出咁令參觀者認識珊瑚學院使用嘅珊瑚修復技術🪸

參觀者化身研究人員，仔細揀選屬同一珊瑚屬嘅珊瑚微碎塊拼圖，再將佢哋固定到人工珊瑚模組之上👍🏻藉住模擬平日珊瑚學院科研人員嘅工作，了解「微切割及融合技術」係點樣有效加快珊瑚嘅生長速度，令本來生長緩慢嘅珊瑚只需一年時間，就能夠長成喺野外需時十年先達到嘅體積，待未來移植返到香港水域，為促進本地海洋生物多樣性出一分力💪🏻

珊瑚學院一直致力透過唔同技術修復本地珊瑚群落，大家亦都可以同我哋一齊努力，喺日常生活之中建立源頭減廢同定期回收嘅習慣，好好保護珊瑚嘅居住環境，令佢哋可以喺乾淨嘅海洋入面繼續茁壯成長！🌊

🌱 Preserving Hong Kong’s Green Heritage!✨

We are incredibly proud of the impactful work being done by the Shiu-ying Hu Herbarium under the CUHK School of Life Sciences! At the recent 14th Shiu-ying Hu Day, CUHK showcased how it is bridging the gap between cutting-edge scientific research, community education, and the arts to champion local plant conservation.

Here are some incredible highlights from their ongoing initiatives:

🔬 Microscopic Discoveries: Curator Dr. David Lau Tai-wai shared groundbreaking insights into the pollen microstructures of two rare native species—the Hong Kong Azalea and Hong Kong Asarum—contributing to a vital global database for endangered plants.

🌳 The Incense Tree Recovery: Since 2019, the "Ex-situ Conservation and School-based Education Programme for Incense Tree" has partnered with around 20 local primary and secondary schools. Students have successfully nurtured rare Incense Tree saplings on campus, and the first batch of 20 matured trees has officially been replanted back into their natural habitats!

🎨 Art Meets Science: The event also celebrated the 7th Botanical Art Competition, which expanded internationally for the first time, bringing together stunning, delicate depictions of endangered flora from over 10 countries and regions.

From the lab to local classrooms and back into nature, CUHK School of Life Sciences is ensuring Hong Kong's unique biodiversity thrives for generations to come. 💚

【珊瑚學院世界海洋日外展活動系列第一彈！】

聯合國將每年6月8號定為世界海洋日，本年度以「重新想像：超越已知世界，建立與海洋的新關係」為題，寄望大家不只單純接受海洋對人類嘅饋贈，更需要主動守護我哋賴以生存嘅海洋🌊

香港中文大學珊瑚學院非常支持世界海洋日嘅理念，更加喺啱啱過去嘅週末兵分三路，喺唔同城市透過各類型外展活動，宣揚保育海洋嘅訊息🙌🏻

上星期日，珊瑚學院派出合共5位博士研究生及本科FYP學生等代表參與喺深圳舉行嘅2026世界海洋日暨全國海洋宣傳日主題活動，席間向參加者介紹氣候變化點樣加劇全球珊瑚白化嘅問題，以及珊瑚學院如何透過人工繁殖培育技術，提升珊瑚群落嘅韌性，以應對氣候變化🪸

今日適逢世界海洋日，大家都可以一齊由日常生活中做起，例如將冷氣嘅溫度較高少少，減低碳排放，協助減緩氣候變化對於海洋同珊瑚嘅影響💪🏻

🌟 Big Congratulations to Prof. Jerome Hui! 🌟

We are thrilled to share that Professor Jerome Hui Ho-lam from the School of Life Sciences at CUHK has been awarded funding under the Hong Kong Research Grants Council’s (RGC) prestigious Overseas Research Fellowship Scheme (ORFS) for the 2026/27 academic year! 🎓🔬

The ORFS is a highly competitive new initiative by the RGC designed to push the boundaries of international research collaboration. Out of only 40 fellowships available across Hong Kong for mid-career scholars, Prof. Hui’s selection highlights his exceptional scholarly competence and leadership in scientific innovation.

Through this fellowship, Prof. Hui will be collaborating with top-tier overseas institutions, bringing global insights back to our community and continuing to tackle major global challenges. 🌍✈️
