Master of Public Health | CityU Postgraduate Admissions Applicants must satisfy the University's general entrance requirements and the following programme-specific entrance requirements:

On 13 June 2024, our Master of Science in Public Health and Epidemiology students had an incredible opportunity to explore the Museum of Medical Sciences in Hong Kong. This museum is not your typical boring exhibit - it's interactive and fascinating, providing a unique learning experience for our students. They were able to delve into the history of health and medicine in Hong Kong, specifically focusing on the conquest and prevention of infectious diseases in the historic Chinese residential district of Taipingshan. By observing, interacting with exhibits, and engaging in class discussions, our students were able to apply their knowledge and skills to develop innovative public health strategies.

The excitement didn't end there! On 14 June 2024, our students had the privilege of visiting the Legislative Council. They had the honor of meeting Hon KWOK Wai-keung, JP, a Legislative Council Member, who gave them an insider's perspective on the functions and duties of the Council. The students were then taken on a tour of the Chamber, Public/Press Galleries, and Viewing Gallery, all expertly led and explained by Hon KWOK himself.

During this visit, our students were able to witness firsthand the process of enacting an ordinance and compare the legislative processes between Mainland China and Hong Kong. They also had the opportunity to engage in a thought-provoking discussion with Hon KWOK on topics such as to***co taxes and the potential connection between mental stability and happiness.

Overall, these experiences were not only educational but also incredibly engaging and appealing to our students. They were able to see the practical applications of their studies and gain a deeper understanding of the real-world implications of public health and legislative processes.

The Department of Infectious Diseases and Public Health, under the Jockey Club College of Veterinary Medicine and Life Sciences at City University of Hong Kong, was established in 2017. Its mission is to provide high-quality undergraduate and graduate education, contributing to Hong Kong's role as a regional hub for One Health education. It is dedicated to conducting cutting-edge research in public health, advancing the understanding of the interconnectedness between animal and human health, and addressing public health and animal health-related issues. Through global and regional partnerships, as well as collaborations with industry and government health agencies, it aims to promote the development of local, regional, and international public health initiatives.

The outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic has brought a heightened awareness of the critical importance of public health and healthcare systems. In the aftermath of the pandemic, there has been a growing demand for professionals specializing in the field of public health. The Master of Public Health (MPH) degree has gained international recognition as the equivalent of an "MBA for the healthcare industry" and has become a mainstream qualification in the public health field. Our mission is to nurture highly skilled, adaptable, and practical public health professionals who can meet the workforce needs of various public health sectors, including government agencies, disease control centers, hospitals, and community health organizations.
