A research team led by Prof. HU Wenqi from the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering has developed the worldโs first bioโinspired artificial cilia system, marking a major step forward in soft robotics, fluid manipulation, and biomedical applications.
Mimicking how natural cilia move and coordinate, this revolutionary system can control fluid flow and particle transport at the microscale, opening up new possibilities in medical and microrobotic solutions.
Their study has been published in ๐๐๐ฉ๐ช๐ง๐.

The Hong Kong Space Robotics and Energy Centre (HKSREC) and Southeast University have signed a new memorandum of understanding to advance research, innovation, and talent development in space robotics, deep space energy systems, embodied intelligence, and related interdisciplinary areas, contributing to the nationโs efforts to build a leading aerospace power.
Led by Prof. GAO Yang, Director of HKSREC and the HKUST Center for AI Robotics in Space Sustainability, Co Director of the Space Science and Technology Institute, and Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, HKSREC is an InnoHK R&D centre specializing in developing multifunctional operation robots with mobile charging capability.

Professor Yang Gao, Director of the HKUST-led Hong Kong Space Robotics & Energy Centre, is the named international expert by China's National Foreign Expert Bureau (ๅๅฎถๅคๅๅฐๅฎถๅฑ) in a newly granted collaborative project with Jilin University. The project, "Human-Robot Intelligent Collaborative Exploration for Constructing Lunar Science Station, (้ขๅๆ็็ง็ ็ซๅปบ่จญ็ไบบๆฉๆบ่ฝๅๅๆขๆธฌๆ่ก)" will leverage Prof. Gao's world-renowned expertise to advance technologies critical for China's Phase 4 lunar exploration program and underscore Hong Kong's role as an international hub for space robotics.
