【PolyU CPCE研究揭示疫後私營醫保開支飆升逾六成】
#香港保險業聯會 公布一項委託 進行的「疫情後醫療通脹的決定因素：香港私人醫療保險索償數據分析」研究結果，揭示本港私營醫療開支在2019至2023年間，錄得逾6成的驚人升幅，年均複合增長率達雙位數。
研究指出，增長主因並非服務單價，而是醫療服務「使用模式」的根本性轉變。
主要研究發現：
• 整體住院索償頻率：四年內大幅上升 68%
• 門診消費轉向高端服務： 專科醫生、脊醫及物理治療師的平均索償金額介乎HK$600-HK$900，遠高於普通科水平。
• 保單設計影響顯著： 團體保單的住院平均索償金額較個人保單低約40%；門診方面，更比個人保單低約一半。
本身是醫療經濟學者的PolyU CPCE院長 #阮博文 教授表示，疫情後醫療保險索償錄得雙位數年均增長，若趨勢持續，將嚴重影響個人及僱主的保費負擔能力。當中如腸胃鏡等檢查的個案增長尤其顯著，這可能源於市民預防性檢查意願增加等行為轉變，此現象對未來醫療資源運用值得深入探討。

【PolyU CPCE Study Reveals Over 60% Surge in Post-Pandemic Private Medical Costs】
The Hong Kong Federation of Insurers ( ) has announced the results of a study commissioned to PolyU CPCE, entitled " Determinants of Post-Pandemic Medical Inflation: An Analysis of Private Insurance Claims Data in Hong Kong”. The study reveals a staggering increase of over 60% in Hong Kong's private medical expenditure from 2019 to 2023, representing a double-digit compound annual growth rate.
The study indicates that the primary driver of this growth is not the unit price of services, but a fundamental shift in the "usage pattern" of medical services.
Key findings:
• Overall Inpatient Claim Frequency: Surged by 68% over four years
• Shift in Outpatient Spending to High‑End Services: The average claim amount for specialists, chiropractors, and physiotherapists ranged from HK$600–HK$900, significantly higher than for general practitioners
• Significant Impact of Policy Design: The average inpatient claim amount under group plans was about 40% lower than under individual plans; for outpatient services, it was about 50% lower

Prof. , Dean of PolyU CPCE and a health economics scholar, stated that the double-digit annual growth in post-pandemic medical insurance claims will severely impact premium affordability for both individuals and employers if the trend persists. He noted that the growth in cases like gastro-colonoscopies is particularly significant, which may be due to behavioural changes such as an increased willingness among citizens to undergo preventive screenings. This phenomenon, he added, warrants in-depth discussion regarding the future allocation of medical resources.

【PolyU CPCE與泰國Walailak University簽署備忘錄 促進環球研究與學生交流】

【PolyU CPCE and Walailak University Thailand Sign MoU to Foster Global Research and Student Exchange】
PolyU CPCE and Walailak University, Thailand recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the PolyU West Kowloon Campus.
The MoU was signed by Prof. , Dean of PolyU CPCE, and Prof. Dr. Sombat Thamrongthanyawong, President of Walailak University. This partnership aims to foster academic and educational collaboration.
Under the MoU, PolyU CPCE and Walailak University will explore cooperation in areas including:
• Exchange of academic staff and students
• Joint research and promotion of research outputs
• Participation in internationally funded projects
• Joint extra-curricular activities for students
