[𝗘𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝘀 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗙:)𝗲𝗹𝘀] Say hello to “𝙁𝙚𝙖𝙧”! Fear arises when we perceive a threat of harm, whether it is physical, emotional, or psychological. It surfaces in moments of uncertainty: the dread before a major presentation, the anxiety of walking into an unfamiliar social setting, or the instinctive “freeze” when we sense potential danger.

According to psychologist Paul Ekman, “𝙁𝙚𝙖𝙧” is one of the 7 universal emotions. ⚡ While it can feel paralyzing, fear serves a life-saving purpose, it mobilizes us to cope with danger and focus our attention entirely on avoiding or reducing harm. (Ekman, 2024)

🌱 While navigating things that scare us, tuning into 𝙁𝙚𝙖𝙧 can be a reminder to assess our safety, prepare ourselves for challenges, and find the courage to protect what matters. Let’s take a moment to reflect:

1️⃣ In what aspects (e.g. studies, social life, future goals) have you experienced fear? 😨

2️⃣ What moments made you feel a lack of control or a threat to your well-being?

3️⃣ How did these experiences show what you needed: protection, preparation, reassurance, or a safe exit?

Now having 𝙁𝙚𝙖𝙧 as an action fuel... 🔋🔅🔆
4️⃣ How might you use this heightened alertness to prepare effectively or set boundaries that keep you safe?

💭 When we acknowledge fear instead of letting it dictate our limits, it transforms into a tool for survival and readiness. Fear reminds us that we value our safety and well-being, providing the energy needed to navigate the unknown. 🛡️

💫 Every emotion, including 𝙁𝙚𝙖𝙧, carries a signal about what matters to us. By noticing it with awareness and compassion, we can better understand our needs and grow through change. 🌷

[𝗘𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝘀 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗙:)𝗲𝗹𝘀] Say hello to “𝘼𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙧”! 💢

𝘼𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙧 flares up when we face obstacles that block our goals, when we are treated unfairly, or when we witness an injustice. It surfaces in many moments, eg. when someone ghosts us, when our boundaries are crossed, or when we feel physically or psychologically threatened.

According to psychologist Paul Ekman, “𝘼𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙧” is one of the 7 universal emotions we all experience. 🔥 While it is often viewed as “negative,” anger plays a vital role for signaling that something is wrong and provides us with the energy to take action and remove obstacles. (Ekman, 2024)

🌱 While navigating frustration, tuning into 𝘼𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙧 can be a reminder to stand up for ourselves, protect our boundaries, and demand change. It is a powerful motivator for justice and personal growth. Let’s take a moment to reflect:

1️⃣ In what aspects have you experienced anger? 😡

2️⃣ What moments led to a sense of unfairness or being hindered by others?

3️⃣ How did these experiences show what you needed? Boundaries, respect, fairness, autonomy, or a change in circumstances?

Now having 𝘼𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙧 as an action fuel... 🔋🔅🔆
4️⃣ How might you channel this need into constructive action or assertive communication?

💭 When we acknowledge anger instead of suppressing it, it opens the door to problem-solving and self-advocacy. Anger reminds us that our values and goals are worth fighting for; it is not a loss of control, but a surge of energy meant to correct a wrong. ⚡

💫 Every emotion, including 𝘼𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙧, acts as a compass for our boundaries and values. By meeting this intensity with mindful awareness, we can transform it into a constructive force. 🛠️

[𝗘𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝘀 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗙:)𝗲𝗹𝘀] Say hello to “𝙎𝙖𝙙𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨”! 💧️

𝙎𝙖𝙙𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨 can surface in many moments - when we face disappointment or rejection, when we strive to rebuild our sense of self as we grow, or when we part with something meaningful: a close friend from exchange, the familiar routines of secondary school, or spaces that once felt like home. 🫂

According to psychologist Paul Ekman, “𝙎𝙖𝙙𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨” is one of the 7 universal emotions we all experience. 🌧 Though it might feel heavy, sadness plays an important role—it signals our need for comfort, reflection, and connection. (Ekman, 2019) 🌻🌈

🌱 While navigating different forms of loss, tuning into emotions like 𝙎𝙖𝙙𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨 can be a reminder to make space for ourselves, to seek comfort in support, to grief what had been lost, and regain strength later. 💆✨ Let’s take a moment to reflect:

1️⃣ In what aspects (e.g. studies, friendship, work, ECAs, etc.) have you experienced sadness? 😢

2️⃣ What moments led to disappointment or a sense of helplessness?

3️⃣ How did these experiences show what you needed—companionship, rest, gentle reassurance, or cathartic release?

Now having 𝙎𝙖𝙙𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨 as an action fuel... 🔋🔅🔆
4️⃣ How might you take small steps to regain balance and care for your heart?

💭 When we allow sadness to surface instead of pushing it away, it opens the door to healing, empathy, and renewed perspective. Sadness reminds us that caring deeply is not a weakness, but a quiet strength that helps us reconnect with ourselves and others. 🌧

💫 Every emotion, including 𝙎𝙖𝙙𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨, carries a message about what matters to us. By paying attention with awareness and compassion, we can better understand our needs and grow through change. 🌷

[𝗘𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝘀 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗙:)𝗲𝗹𝘀] Let’s meet “𝙃𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨”! ☺️
In this semester, we will be introducing you to a variety of emotions, as a regular warm reminder to be in touch with your feelings, and to gain actionable insights from them. 🩷

“𝙃𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨” ☺️ is one of the 7 basic universal emotions identified by Paul Ekman. 🌈 Interchangeable with enjoyment, it is often seen as the most desirable universal emotion, usually arising from connection with others or from sensory pleasure. It describes an overall sense of life well-being or evaluation of their lives. (Ekman, 2019) ✨

🎉 New semester, new beginnings! As we step into this new semester, noticing our emotions like 𝙃𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨 can help us appreciate the positive moments and set a mindful, optimistic tone for the months ahead. 💆🌷 Let’s reflect on your experience in 2025 together for some insights:

1️⃣ In what aspects (e.g. studies, friendship, work, ECAs, etc.) have you experienced happiness? 😊

2️⃣ Among them, what made you feel pleasurable or satisfied?

3️⃣ How do they reflect what you treasure in life? Could it be social connection, advancement, justice, community impact or something else?

Now having 𝙃𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨 as an action fuel... 🔋🔅🔆
4️⃣ Acting in alignment with what you treasure, how can you plan for this semester?

Notice what makes us happy in different situations and see which direction feels right for us to grow!

Let’s take a moment to recognise and embrace all our emotions—big or small—and use that awareness to cultivate a more fulfilling journey. Here’s to a year filled with self-discovery! 🥰🫶
