MANGROVES: NATURE’s FRONTLINE DEFENDERS // Secondary Geography students explored how these incredible coastal forests survive rising seas, stronger storms and shifting climates. Their tangled roots don’t just look amazing—they protect coastlines, support marine life and store huge amounts of carbon.
📍 Found in: Tropical + subtropical shores
🌱 Known for: Salt‑tolerant roots + storm protection
💙 Important because: They reduce flooding + erosion
⚠️ Threats: Development, pollution, rising seas
🛠️ Management: Restoration, conservation zones, community action.
Working alongside teachers, students gained skills in field sketching, climate change impact observations and flood‑hazard mapping to help them understand how mangroves shape and shield our coasts.

LOVE IN THE OCEAN // This Valentine’s Day, let’s share our LOVE for the oceans, our blue heart 💙🌊 . The ocean produces over half of the oxygen we breathe and absorbs much of the carbon dioxide we release, provides us with food we eat, the climate we need, making it Earth’s greatest life-support system. Marine species like seahorses, penguins, and even lobsters form lifelong bonds, reminding us that love exists in many forms beneath the sea. Protecting the ocean means protecting the future of all relationships—human and marine alike.

17 HOURS TO GO // until our 45km relay swim around HK island. I’m swimming for TEAM GREEN to raise funds for to enable adults and children from low income communities to learn how to swim.
As a volunteer swim coach for Splash I have seen how one hour in the pool each week makes a huge difference, not just to their swimming skill but to their confidence in the water and their mental well-being.
EVERYONE CAN SWIM they just need the opportunity to learn. A pool, the sea and a coach. With your support we can break down barriers and open up a world of confidence, safety and joy.
Let’s MAKE WAVES for Hong Kong 🇭🇰 and make a difference to the lives of so many.

Less than 48 hours to go before I jump into Hong Kong 🇭🇰 harbour to join my fellow swimmers to start the 45km swim around Hong Kong Island.
We have nearly reached our goal to raise HK$3.5 million for Splash Foundation and enable thousands of adults and kids from disadvantaged backgrounds to learn to swim. Donations help to fund over 60 hours of swim classes each week, including pool hire, lifeguards and specialised swim coaches for underprivileged communities across Hong Kong and Singapore (and much more).
Please donate, we are almost at our target. EVERY LITTLE HELPS!
