Imagine watching a movie with friends, but one of them can’t see the screen. By describing actions, scenes, and emotions in vivid words, you help them see through sound. That’s the power of Audio Description (AD).

If you’d like to use your voice to help individuals with visual impairment (VI) understand the world they can’t see, why not signing up for this semester’s “Talk2U — Audio Description Community Service Scheme”?

*Participants will be granted iGPS units based on actual hours of participation.
*Certificate of service will be awarded to those who complete the scheme (with an attendance rate of 80% or above).

✅Understand what AD is and its applications
✅Learn about the needs of individuals with VI
✅Write your own AD scripts
✅Apply AD techniques to guide individuals with VI on a HSUHK campus tour
✅Assist in on-campus promotional activity to raise awareness about AD services and the needs of individuals with VI

This year, the New Student Welcome Day 2025 (NSWD 2025), flagship event of HSUHK Welcome Fest, is going to be held on 22 August 2025, with an expectation of nearly 1,000 participants in total. Interesting activities, including campus tours, games, sharing sessions, etc., will be arranged for freshmen to give them a better understanding of HSUHK and to kick-start their new journey here.

You, as their senior, are invited to join us as Senior Buddies (SB) at NSWD 2025, to provide guidance and assistance to freshmen throughout the event and share with them your own experience in adapting to the new life in HSUHK.

[活動回顧 Event recap] 首個 「我講‧您聽 — 口述影像社區服務計劃」完成啦🥳！
The first "Talk2U – Audio Description Community Service Scheme" was completed!

為咗推動社會共融同資訊無障礙，學生事務處與 香港口述影像協會 Audio Description Association Hong Kong 喺2025年2月至3月合作開展「我講‧您聽 Talk2U — 口述影像社區服務計劃」🎧。

喺計劃導師梁凱程博士 (Dr. Dawning Leung) 嘅指導下，11名恒大學生完成咗16小時嘅專業培訓。參與學生不但學習到視障人士嘅需要同口述影像導賞嘅基本技巧，仲可以落手落腳計劃口述影像導賞團嘅行程同撰寫口述影像稿件✍🏻📄。

培訓結束後，佢哋喺3月29日成功化身「口述影像導賞員」🗣️，帶領 香港復康聯盟 Rehabilitation Alliance Hong Kong 嘅視障人士參觀恒大校園 🏫，包括住宿書院、利國偉教學大樓及道生廣場嘅石獅子等地點。透過佢哋生動嘅語言描述，視障人士得以用聽覺同觸覺等感觀去探索校園氛圍，並建構想像中嘅校園圖畫。

參與計劃嘅盧同學表示，呢個活動令佢學識由視障人士嘅角度考慮佢哋嘅需要同感受，增強咗自己嘅同理心，希望未來可以繼續參與類似嘅義務工作，服務社區💖。

To promote social inclusion and information accessibility, Student Affairs Office collaborated with the Audio Description Association (Hong Kong) from February to March 2025 to launch “Talk2U – Audio Description Community Service Scheme”! 🎧

Under the guidance of Dr. Dawning Leung, 11 HSUHK students completed 16 hours of professional training, in which they learned about the needs of the visually impaired and the basics of audio description. They even planned the Audio Description Guided Tour and wrote audio description scripts on their own! ✍🏻📄

After the training, students became “audio describers” on 29 March, leading visually impaired guests from Rehabilitation Alliance Hong Kong on a tour of HSUHK campus 🏫. Through their vivid descriptions, guests were able to experience what our campus is like by using their auditory and tactile senses, and constructing an imaginative picture of the University.

Johnson Lo, a student participant of the programme shared that the event deepened his understanding and enriched his empathy for the needs and feelings of the visually impaired as he was able to view the world from their perspectives. And he hopes to continue participating in similar volunteer work to serve the community. 💖

學生事務處聯同學生會喺1月13至24日舉辦嘅「HSUHK Chill Muse」已圓滿結束🥳！活動首次將原本用作球類活動嘅Play Space打造成青草地🪴，仲放置咗木製露營檯凳🪑，俾同學及教職員可以喺課餘時間放鬆同休息~ 真係好有氣氛㗎！

為咗吸引大家駐足停留，我哋特別喺 1月21及22日安排咗咖啡輕食☕及音樂表演🎼。無論係參與演出嘅單位，定係嚟放鬆嘅同學，都樂在其中，一同感受充滿活力嘅校園氛圍。

社會企業「無障咖啡」喺1月21及22日連續兩日為同學提供咖啡同輕食，俾大家喺享受音樂嘅同時品味咖啡，放鬆心情，忘卻生活中嘅煩惱🤎。無障咖啡師除咗有精湛嘅咖啡技藝外，仲擁有豐富嘅音樂才能，為我哋帶嚟美妙嘅歌聲🎤。

HSUHK Chill Muse, in collaboration with Student Affairs Office and Students’ Union, was successfully held from 13 to 24 January 2025 🥳! The outdoor sports facility, Play Space, was first transformed into a lush area🪴, and complete with wooden camping tables and benches for students and staff to relax in between classes!

To encourage students and staff to stop by and chill, we arranged coffee and snacks ☕ along with live music performances 🎼 on 21-22 January 2025. Everyone enjoyed the vibrant atmosphere at this new campus spot.

The social enterprise "Limitless Coffee" offered coffee and light bites on selected days, allowing everyone to savour their drinks while enjoying the music🤎. The baristas not only excelled in making coffee, but also showcased their musical talents, bringing us beautiful melodies 🎤.

“Through the Wild Lens: Seeking Direction Amid the Untamed” - exhibition period extended!

為慶祝香港恒生大學45周年之際，藝術設計系文化及創意產業課程、學生事務處、資訊科技服務中心及香港恒生大學學生會聯合為香港知名攝影師袁斯樂先生 Kelvin Yuen 策展 。

策展團隊將荒野與辦公室這兩處看似毫不相關的空間結合，展現風景攝影師的日常工作。藉著「原野辦公室」的概念，我們將展出袁斯樂的12輯攝影作品及「恒心追夢，影出我心」攝影比賽的參賽作品，期望以全新視角檢視自然與人類之間的關係。

In celebration of the 45th anniversary of The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong, BA in Cultural and Creative Industries programme of the Department of Art and Design, in collaboration with the Student Affairs Office, Information Technology Services Centre, and the HSUHK Students’ Union, curates an exhibition featuring the renowned Hong Kong photographer, Mr. Kelvin Yuen.

The curatorial team has combined the seemingly unrelated realms of wilderness and office to showcase the daily work of a landscape photographer. Through the theme of "Wilderness Office," we will showcase 12 photographs by Mr. Kelvin Yuen alongside entries from the "Chasing Dreams, Capturing My Heart" photography competition. The aim is to allow audiences to explore the relationship between nature and humanity from a fresh perspective.
